FYI.....Nancy was preggers when she and Ronny got married.
Goodnight, onyx! It was 54 below zero the last time I checked here. Hope that news makes ya feel a bit warmer. :)
25 degrees here and my daughter called to tell me that her 2 year old Trane heat pump quit running.
Oh, I had forgotten that.
Yet another mark against Reagan, eh?
Yes, I am up late. How are you? I've been sitting here so long trying to read the entire thread that I'm just now noticing that I've let our fire die down to embers and I'm freezing!
Oh it's 30 here.........I guess those peace lilies are dead this time............LOL.
My oldest is stubborn and demanding just like his mommy. Our long standing joke "debate" is "who is the better group: Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin" We have argued that one since he was 15. He's the only person I know that can stay up all night with me and talk about EVERYTHING from music, politics and religion. Gotta love those ornery kids that give ya a run for your money!
I'm an insomniac. The only thing that works for me is ambien and I love it, which is why the physician will never prescribe it. What fun! :)
But, there is joy. I can "monitor" the thread about Bindi Irwin's trip to the US and watch the Freepers rip each other to shreds.
How'd you know that happend? LOL
I try, goodness knows, I try......LOL
Oh PLEEEEEASE say you are kidding??
Not that it matters, but I vote for Pink Floyd.
And BTW, spot on post!
See? I'm just like EV... said good night and then returned ...... ROTFLOL!
Chena --- 54 below, but did you take a dog outside to pee? LOL
Carolinamom --- that's too cold to be without heat.
Second time: Good night and sweet dreams to all!
Logging out this time... trust me. :0)
I checked the Bindi thread out thinking "awww...how cute" Suprise suprise! The nasties are out tonight in full force.
Hey FRiends, I sure enjoyed the thread. But now I just have to go tend a couple of fires or I'm going to freeze to death (literally) tonight. LOL
Til next time....good evening!
Led Zeppelin :)
There is a sweetness to your idealism and good fortune. I do not make light of it. We should all be so idealistic. Reality doesn't always allow for it.
Sorry, I didn't see this. I'm responding at length to about 4 people by myself.
Slavery was a terrible thing, and they will answer for that in the afterlife. It was also a product of the times where many held slaves. However, many of these men stood out for their exceptional treatment of slaves. Washington wanted his slaves freed on his deaths: exceptional for the time. Adams believed in working the land himself. Jefferson was also humane. Quincy Adams was downright moral even for today's standards.
It doesn't excuse them, but bringing up moral standards from 200 years ago is irrelevant. Some of Cyrus the Great's policies would be totally immoral by today's standards, but he was exceptionally kind (to the Jews, obviously) at the time.
They may have not had the capacity to understand that their actions were so immoral at the time: Some social scientists claim people develop a greater degree of empathy over evolution due to certain breeding habits.
Neither here nor there. I don't think a comparison of slaves and morality 200 years ago is worthy of relevance today.
Listen kid, you've been on FR all of 1 year. Lurking and a member, I've been here 10 YEARS, so please don't try to tell me how this forum works.
I agree. Learning is a lifelong process.
I don't think pre-marital sex is comparable to the actions we're discussing.
Since I don't trust you, onyx (you know you'll be back..LOL), yes it's brutal cold and I haven't taken the dogs out yet, but I'm going to now. I don't like going out to the workshop without them at night. They are my moose alarms. Never had a moose bite or kick me yet. LOL
Night all. Go get your fires and furnaces going! It's cold out there........brrrr
That's backwards. Life is a learning process, not the other way around. That's what I've been trying to say.
You just made up a bunch of excuses to justify immoral actions by people that you admire because their ability to govern was ot impacted by those actions.
See, you are learning about politics after all.
I hope your new year is turning out well.
Mine could be better. Mother just diagnosed with cancer.
But, these are early days and there is much hope. :) And there are still other blessings around me. It's good to remember to count the little stuff sometimes.
Well, I made certain that I filled my kiddo's skull full of facts. Now, I'm starting on my grandson's wee skull; though he is still itsy bitsy. Never too early to start, I say. :-)
Good choice. ;)
Good night..................pleasant dreams and go get warm!
Yeah, didn't "we" all. LOL
That's true. One day I may stumble and fall, perhaps doing something worse than what I consider these men have done.
And I appreciate that you remain kind in your words and tone even though we may disagree. Maybe some day I will come around to your thinking. Who knows?
You're making me COLD..........and I gotta go get my plants off the deck.............-8? Doesn't the fluid in your eyeball freeze? :-)
Oh, but you can tell when you look at him that he is smart.
You can see it in their eyes. And raising your children well was the best you could do for your grandchildren. They'll have a good start and a firm foundation.
Good going, Grandma!
I guess so, but somehow, FR's Reagan sycophants only believe in the things that they've made up about him.
I loved that man, I worked my heart out for him, in a BLUE state, which he did win; but, I'll be damned, if I let the mythogrpahizers and babies get away with spouting their fairy tales about him, unanswered.
Go stoke that fire! I don't want you getting hypothermia, because you're reading FR!
This article isn't about Reagan and as someone who has been mostly on the fence regarding Romney's candidacy, I find it most damning.
How many do you have? Kids, I mean. :-)
The heat off my monitor is making me sweat profusely!
But Northern Minnesota is not for the squeamish this time of year.
And if you believe that Paul Bunyon story, I have a lovely bridge to sell you. :-)
Nighty night.....go stir up those fires; ASAP!
Romney is a lame duck....
Ah, great minds think alike. I said the exact same words 2 days ago on this thread about Romney
'Cept I meant that he's a seminar poster for Keyes.
I notice Romney sure seems to generate a lot of "pre-emptive strike" articles, opinion pieces and such against him. The would-be power brokers and the media are much more worried about Romney running than they are anyone else. You never know, Duncan Hunter might come out of nowhere like Clinton did, but it's doubtful. I like Giuliani and could see Hunter being his VP.
ROTFLOL... new descriptive term. Does this mean "Harpies" is no longer in vogue.
You made a good point there....Hunter needs more time in the Media as well as governmnet to be a candidate.
