LIBERAL BLOGGERS TRYING TO KNOCK
MELANIE MORGAN OFF THE AIR

For the past several days, liberal bloggers have been engineering a "Blogswarm." They are getting hundreds of liberal bloggers to participate in a drill where they are getting advertisers to pull advertising off of conservative radio station KSFO. Mike Stark, who harrassed Senator George Allen during Campaign 2006 is involved in leading the effort.

The charge by the liberal bloggers? That KSFO talkers including pro-troop leader Melanie Morgan engage in "Hate Speech." They're deliberately distorting comments by Morgan (she responded to comments by liberals who targeted the Republicans for defeat in Congress by saying that she and her cohorts could play that game and paint a target on Nancy Pelosi's wide laughing eyes. They now accuse her of making a death threat against Pelosi???!! ( Source: Melanie Morgan on Fox News )

They're now getting the mainstream media to pick this up and carry the water, as they wish to take this issue and replicate it in markets across the country. 2 CBS affiliates today, 2 newspapers, over 500 blogs, and they are pushing their hardest to make this bigger and bigger. Media Matters is leading the charge.

The message: NO CORPORATE SPONSORS FOR CONSERVATIVE TALK.

On their blogs they point out that political momentum is on their side and they can now push for Congress to restore the Fairness Doctorine in broadcasting.

You can read their blogs - they are trying to take Melanie Morgan and her conservative compatriots at KSFO off the air. And next stop will be your local conservative radio talkers. Melanie Morgan won the Associated Press's Mark Twain Journalism Award for Best Special Program when she broadcast live interviews with the troops in Iraq. If they can manage to take her out, then no conservative talker is safe from this intimidation campaign.

And anyone who was found guilty of treason should receive the specified penalty (which is up to death). And they both explained that they would support such a penalty for someone such as Bill Keller of the New York Times who REPEATEDLY undermined the war effort, knowingly and deliberately, by publishing classfied documents on terrorist wiretapping and terrorist finance tracking.)

We do need to watch the House proceedings though re: the Fairness Doctrine.

Yes, they talk in some of the blog postings about ultimately going after Hannity & Limbaugh, but they speculate that they can't do it right now and be successful. So they seem to be moving to take out a few prominent 2nd and 3rd tier conservative talkers, brand the story of "threatening hate speech being sponsored by corporations" in news media stories and in doing so freeze the flow of money to conservative talk radio shows.

Give them credit for one thing. While what they are doing is VILE, and their stated goal of undermining the war on terrorism is ANTI-AMERICAN, they have nonetheless wisened up to Free Market policies about advertising and corporations. They recognize that they can kill a number of conservative talk radio hosts by making it politically unacceptable for advertisers to be on such shows. And they will use the liberal Mainstream Media to start repeating the story over and over again so that no advertising rep. would ever have the "cajones" to advertise on a conservative station.

I think if loyal listeners put on a huge show of support for Melanie it can counter this smear effectively. It might even improve the ratings for the show and encourage advertisers to support her even more (there will be more money in it for advertisers with all the new, juicy "controversy" boosting Melanie's ratings).

By the way, thanks for pointing out the ad. As vicious as it was, I did enjoy hearing Melanie converse with Ann. Two babes are better than one, three babes are better than two, four babes are...(and the rule continues to build on itself!).

They've gotten big name advertisers to pull off the station such as MasterCard, VISA, Bank of America, and others.

Really? KSFO is also the official Raider Nation station. Even though they had a losing season, why wouldn't they want to advertise to Raiders fans?

Maybe, but I question which way Raiders fans lean, KSFO or KGO?

Also, since KSFO and KGO are both owned by the same company, ABC makes money whether the audience tunes into one or the other. They would make more money if both stations stay as is than if one were shut down.

Morgan is only on from 5:00am to 9:00am, and I bet most don't tune in until at least 7:00am unless they're fighting the morning commute. The rest of the day is syndicated, except for the 6:00PM-8:00PM slot.

Finally, the weekend is less strident, with the garden show and Bob O'Donnell and computers in the morning on Saturday. Then there is Rabbi Lapin, David Gold, and Barbara Simpson. The station is nowhere near the "hate talk" that these protesters are making it out to be.

Perhaps Mike Stark needs to be "targeted", big time. Has Rush done a segment on this?

It almost appears to be an illegal form of extortion on the part of these "bloggers". The bloggers are trying to manipulate and censor the programming of free radio stations and intimidate US companies financially. They resemble nasty little gangsta neighborhood tough guys engaging in a kind of political turf war.
