Bush Warns Iranians (we are effectively at war with Iran)

President Bush says we are effectively at war with Iran.

Mr. Bush, in a much-anticipated televised speech to the nation last night, accused the Islamic Republic of "providing material support for attacks on American troops." Eschewing advice from his father's secretary of state, James Baker, to open a dialogue with Iran and Syria, the president said American forces in Iraq would "disrupt" attacks from Syria- and Iran-backed terrorists, "interrupt" the supply lines reaching back to those countries, and "seek out and destroy the networks providing advanced weaponry and training to our enemies in Iraq." That last sentence is the closest Mr. Bush has come to announcing attacks on Iranian territory, where American intelligence and military leaders have said the most destructive improvised explosives used against American convoys are made.

The new strategy yesterday also eschewed the advice of the outgoing general in charge of Central Command, John Abizaid, and committed America to a two front war to save Iraq from Shiite death squads and Al Qaeda.

The new war strategy will focus on defeating Al Qaeda forces gathered predominantly in the Anbar province of Iraq and will officially end the American-brokered talks with Sunni insurgents in Amman. A new surge of 20,000 troops, predominately for securing Baghdad, will for the first time consider members of the Shiite Mahdi Army legitimate targets in the quest to win back Iraq's capital.

The strategy is in sharp contrast to the counsel of General Abizaid, who warned against the prospect of opening a two front war in Iraq that was narrowly avoided in 2004 when American troops faced down Mahdi Army political leader, Moqtada al-Sadr. Mr. Bush said that the plan to secure Baghdad would be developed by Iraq's leaders.

Maybe now that The President is effectively stating the truth of our "war-by-proxy" with Iran, we can finally git-R-done...........

So General Abizaid is the reason Moqtada al-Sadr is still breathing after killing a large number of American soldiers?

We'll see if we're at war, Bush certainly didn't say it. Abizaid was wrong if he thinks this makes it a two front war, there is only one front. Gates is a veteran of the Soviets in Afghanistan period. He knows what we did to the Soviets, if he is smart he will know we can't let Iran do the same to us.

The recent surge in the world oil supply is not coincidence!

The Saudis are increasing their capacity and when they can replace Iran's contribution of oil, Iran will start to feel the pain.

We have been "at war" with Iran since Nov 4th 1979.
Their choice, not ours.

The reason why Moqtada is still breathing is the State Departmen/Collin Powell, with their "great" idea of involving them into the political process!

That would be my choice also. Solve a lot of problems. BTW, we have a Lhaasa Apso named Pepper - just love him to pieces - did your logon ID have anything to do with a pet?

We should ship captured IEDs to Arab nationalists in the Iranian oil region. That would really muck up things for Iran. I wish our leaders were a little more pro-active.

I'd say this paragraph contradicts itself. Bush had a public dialogue with Iran and Syria last night. Knock it off, or BEND OVER.

No wonder the war was going badly, we had a general that didn't want to win the damn thing.

If we have proof that Iran is behind the IED'd flowing into Iraq, how come we dont have bombers flying over Iran just to say hello?

(we are effectively at war with Iran)

We are effectively at war with Islam.
True, the war against us is being led by a relatively small minority of true believer Islamofascists, but Nazi Germany was led by a relatively small minority of Nazifascists, most Germans only went along with the Nazis to get along (and stay alive) just like most Muslims today.

The old saying, "The only thing worse than a war is losing a war" applies here. We must win. Anticipate many Pubbie politicians are going to suck up to the antiwar moonbats. They hope to keep their jobs. Won't work. Americans love winners and loyal winners especially. Bye Bye Norm Coleman x Senator from Minnesota.
