. . . Michael Nifongs inflammatory statements to the media prior to the May elections, for the sole benefit of Mr. Nifong, turned the complaint of a confused young woman into a vicious political game which has brought the office of the district attorney into disrepute. He has ruined lives and reputations for a paycheck and personal political gain.
This so-called investigation has been a reprehensible sham from the very beginning. The grand jury has a right to facts rather than lies and innuendo, and the public has a right to a fair indictment. Further, Nifong concealed the actual DNA test results from the defense and failed to investigate the complaint and failed to interview the complainant until last week, when he dropped the rape charges. But the damage was done long ago this scandal will always be known as the Duke lacrosse rape case.
As the Supreme Court said over 70 years ago, the prosecutor does not represent an ordinary party, he represents the people, and his job isnt to win convictions, but to see justice is done. It is as much his duty to refrain from antics calculated to produce a wrongful conviction as it is to use every legitimate means to bring about a just one. Shame on Mr. Nifong.
Well, well.

I say it is an almost absolute certainty.
He will not be able to step into another courtroom in the future and have any credibility.
Democrats love corruption.
The only ones who were raped were the LaCrosse team players.........
He'd be perfect for her AG. In fact, I'll bet he played the rape case as he did just for a juicy appointment in an HC administration.
This must be the Bizarro FR. I never thought I'd see something from the NACDL here without a barf alert -- they're about as liberal as they come.
The DUKE Players should be suing every media outlet that ever forgot to use the term "Accused' or "Alleged", the State of North Carolina, the City of Durham, and Most of all Duke University, and those 88 ethically challenged members of the DUKE Faculty for every thing they all have. They should make a part of the suit settlement that the loser pays all of the winners legal fees and go for the juggler. Then they should hire the most expensive legal team they can find and retire to a country that they will buy with their winnings.
In this particular case, I approve of lawyers going out for blood given the harm done on so many levels by so many entities. Since the American way with presumed innocence didnt work for these guys, the American Legal way of redress should be brought to the arena at both civil and criminal courts.
Bleed the SOBs dry!
...and their coach.
"Dave Evans was behind me Reade Seligman (sic) was in front of me and Finnerty was on the floor under Seligman (sic) ... Finnerty then got up and got behind her [now Wilson is apparently describing, not quoting] and Dave Evans got under Finnerty on the floor and Seligman (sic) was still in front of her."
The answer of course was they were not in the bathroom for purposes of rape... just a friendly game of Twister.
I don't think she's confused at all. She seems shrewd and downright calculating to me.
"the prosecutor does not represent an ordinary party, he represents the people, and his job isnt to win convictions, but to see justice is done."
But the defense attorney's job is to get his client off, whether he thinks his client is guilty or not...
A confused young woman? How about a lying whore out to feather her bed with blackmailed money? Nifong's not the only bad guy here...
Nice of them to wait until now to jump onto the Nifong dogpile.
Let us not forget the perpetrator in this crime, the 21st Century Tawana Brawley, without whose false police report and subsequent lies none of this would have happened.
Nifong is guilty and should be unemployed and prosecuted, but the tramp behind the whole story should be locked away as well. And sooner rather than later.
.....But she's a new mother!.........Think of the child!........../s
ake his PENSION as he stated that was the only reason he ran for office was so he could retire in three years ,
