This soldier's got something to say.
Let me get to the point. I have watched events since the President announced we would be sending more troops to Iraq. I am SICK of the people who disagree with the President ONLY for political gain. One female senator from California who claimed that the military and their families pay the price for deployment and the decisions of the President. That's right. We ALL volunteered. We KNOW what could happen. DON'T USE US AS POLITICAL LEVERAGE!!!
And as for all of the "informed Americans" who answered in the latest polls that sending more troops to Iraq is wrong and that Congress should not fund it to "send a message to the President," YOU SHUT THE FU&% UP, WE'LL DO THE FIGHTING!!!
Sorry if I came on a little too strong. I've just had enough of people who don't know anything talking like they know everything.

I have about one more tour in me, but then, I'm old enough to remember when dirt was new (heh). Good luck on your flight training, and take care up there. Lots more crews perish in mishaps than in combat, so fly safe and let Hadji do his worst.
As I am a reserve component soldier (SFC, SF) living on the periphery of a gargantuan collegeplex, a week never passes without some unkempt 60s throwback flicking his ponytail at me and telling me what the "troops" think.
Do you pay a price for being in the military? You bet your you-know-what. But you also reap the rewards... they come in a form that Senator (or any Senator) can't understand, because you can't stack it up with the gold teeth in the bank.
What all these people who cry crocodile tears for us don't get, among many other things, is that almost every damned guy and gal lacing up desert boots today enlisted, re-enlisted, or (in the case of officers) took, extended, or reconfirmed a committment to serve SINCE the fighting began. DAMN STRAIGHT WE KNEW WE MIGHT GET IN THE FIGHT. THAT WAS THE WHOLE BY-GAD IDEA!
By the way, my unit members have had to sign not one but so far FIVE volunteer statements for the pending tour (the lawyers, Al-Qaeda's other fifth column, keep changing 'em).
When I hear scrotes like Bwawney Fwank and Ted "Breast Stroke" Kennedy emoting about their deep concern for me and mine, I see that in the light of the last thirty years they've spent urinating on me, my unit, and the instutions that sustain us.
Colour me skeptical.
