Rutherford County Will Pay $50,000 For Posting Ten Commandments
Last Update: 1/12/2007 11:38:14 AM
Rutherford County will pay 50-thousand dollars for posting the Ten Commandments in its courthouse in 2002.
The American Civil Liberties Union won a suit against the county last fall when a court found the county had violated the U-S Constitution's separation of church and state.
County commissioners voted Thursday to pay the fine.
Commissioner Mike Sparks, who has started a campaign to have the commandements posted in homes and businesses around the country, said the ACLU had done the commission a favor by bringing attention to the cause.
11th Commandment: Thou shalt not post the 10 Commandments.
I guess we should sue the Federal government for involving themselves in matters of church and state.
Who are they going to pay the fine to--themselves?
I would like to see where in the constitution is calls for a "seperation of church and state". Congress shall make no law doesn't mean no religion allowed in court houses. Did this county pass a law mandating a state religion? If not, then this judge is an asshat and needs to be thrown off the bench.
When are they going to put a bounty on the ACLU?
Darn good start!!
Wow, Rutherford County (my County) is making headlines twice in one week! First the crazy dog freezer and now this.
The AGING COMMUNIST LEFTOVER UNION can GO TO !#$$. They could sue me all day long and I wouldn't pay any attention to them. I will not give up AMERICA which is my NATION that is UNDER GOD. God Bless America and ALL Who have served Her since 1775.
The ACLU is taking advantage of a little-known federal law that allows them to collect their own legal fees from the losers in their suits, so it's a double win for them
This law MUST be changed! We've enabled them to finance their smear-America campaigns with OUR tax dollars!
