US military strike on Iran seen by April ’07
Arab Times (Kuwait) ^ | 14th Jan 2007 | Ahmed Al-Jarallah - Editor-in-Chief

KUWAIT CITY: Washington will launch a military strike on Iran before April 2007, say sources. The attack will be launched from the sea and Patriot missiles will guard all oil-producing countries in the region, they add. Recent statements emanating from the United States indicate the Bush administration’s new strategy for Iraq doesn’t include any proposal to make a compromise or negotiate with Syria or Iran. A reliable source said President Bush recently held a meeting with Vice President Dick Cheney, Defense Secretary Robert Gates, Secretary of State Dr Condoleezza Rice and other assistants in the White House where they discussed the plan to attack Iran in minute detail.

According to the source, Vice President Dick Cheney highlighted the threat posed by Iran to not only Saudi Arabia but the whole region. “Tehran is not playing politics. Iranian leaders are using their country’s religious influence to support the aggressive regime’s ambition to expand,” the source quoted Dick Cheney as saying. Indicating participants of the meeting agreed to impose restrictions on the ambitions of Iranian regime before April 2007 without exposing other countries in the region to any danger, the source said “they have chosen April as British Prime Minister Tony Blair has said it will be the last month in office for him. The United States has to take action against Iran and Syria before April 2007.”

Claiming the attack will be launched from the sea and not from any country in the region, he said “the US and its allies will target the oil installations and nuclear facilities of Iran ensuring there is no environmental catastrophe or after effects.” “Already the US has started sending its warships to the Gulf and the build-up will continue until Washington has the required number by the end of this month,” the source said. “US forces in Iraq and other countries in the region will be protected against any Iranian missile attack by an advanced Patriot missile system.”

He went on to say “although US Defense Secretary Robert Gates and Secretary of State Dr Condoleezza Rice suggested postponing the attack, President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney insisted on attacking Tehran without any negotiations based on the lesson they learnt in Iraq recently.” The Bush administration believes attacking Iran will create a new power balance in the region, calm down the situation in Iraq and pave the way for their democratic project, which had to be suspended due to the interference of Tehran and Damascus in Iraq, he continued. The attack on Iran will weaken the Syrian regime, which will eventually fade away, the source said.

Hardly surprising. It's obvious we are going to strike Iran, there is no other way to stop them. I'm only surprised we didn't hit them already in 2005... Well be late than never.

should have gone this weekend. Pick a week when Ahmadinazi is on a third world tour, cut comms, sling bombs and roll in.

It's be messy and look tacky, but what a way to exploit confusion in the enemy.
Oh, and be sure to bring money to bribe locals and generals.

For some reason......I doubt it. Not unless it's to support something Israel is going to do.

Dems and MSM will try and put a stop to any attack. Bush and Cheney have just a few months before the election cycle kicks in and Bush is perceived as a lame duck.

Tehran is not playing politics ...... and I guess Cheney's not playing.

It's a shame he and others who may want to go forward with this plan don't get more people in Congress involved.

To many, Cheney is beginning to look like the great "world mover" or worse.

Personally, I don't know what is true.

Bush/Cheney have nothing to lose anymore. They can do whatever they want... their image in the media and "public opinion" can't be any worse. They will order attacks on Iran.

This is off topic. However, why do I get the impression that Bush can only focus and get his work done while he is an underdog? For last two years, he did not appear to focus and try to straddle the middle, not getting much work done.

I wonder if this will this be a big story on 'Slay The Nation', 'This Week Without David Brinkley', and 'Meet the Depressed' later this morning?

Iranian influence is already being pointed out by the Bush addm.. Look for more to come in the next month. I think in time he can influence enough DEM's to pull this off given that the RINO's fall in line that is.

Unless it gets picked up by AP/Reuters that it probably won't be seen by those shows researchers.

Now if it came from the NYT...

I seriously doubt an Arab Times article will cause the Sunday Morning Bobble Heads to go all a twitter.

Now if the NYT picks this story up it'll be another story.

I have my doubts that this editor has an inside pipe line to the CENTCOM planning room. But as another poster on this thread said, Bush has nothing to lose at this point.

He can't be reelected. He's already lost both the House and the Senate. And he's got less than two years to go in his term. So he might as well hit the Iranians and hit them hard.

It's not like the left would hate him any less if he didn't, nor could they hate him any more if he did.

Besides, it's the right thing to do.

The Iranians need a big time smack down. All these fools talking about how over stretched our military is haven't got any inkling of just how much combat power this nation can project.

We can reduce the Iranian military to ashes inside of two weeks using entirely conventional means, and that includes most of the ruling 'mullahs'. Let 'em have their bunkers. US air power will turn those into some very expensive graves.

We're fighting a largely Iranian backed insurgency in Iraq, but Iran will be different. We won't be there to hold territory but to smash things to bits. And that my friend is something the US military does exceedingly well.

Once the Iranian military is turned into smoldering junk and pink goo things in Iraq will get considerably calmer.

If I were planning things I'd reduce Boy Assads 'palace' to rubble just for sh*** and grins, preferably while he was in it.
