The folks in Saudi are worried about Iran and they are flooding the market with oil before Bush hammers Iran.
We've got so many subs in the area we are running into surface ships!

Two words..."Alternate Energy".
When I was a kid during the laughable "energy crisis" (there was pleanty of energy...OPEC was just sitting on it) things looked like America might get off it's fat backside and actuall do things to bring us out from under the domination of the sand fleas...and suddenly, the embargo was over.
I pray to God we are still moving ahead in the Oil Shale project.

I was reading SF Chron. archives today of June-75 where experts had predicted Iran's oil to wane in 1990. I don't know what to believe.

Unambiguous move by OPEC to undercut any further development in the Canadian oilsands projects.
Most oilsands projects have break even costs between US$35 and $45 per barrel.

Maybe they are simply trying to undercut the Iranian price to put pressure on the Iranians.
To: nevergore; savedbygrace; al baby; FreeKeys
Darn right it's illegal. Which is why we don't see much of it. Downright dangerous too.
Any use of flodding is unconscionable unless used only as a last resort.
To: SomeoneNeedsToSayIt
Perhaps we should look into flod insurance.

Oil prices plunged more than 3 percent back near $51 a barrel Tuesday after Saudi Arabia said OPEC production cuts were working well... OPEC has been cutting production and the price is still falling?
I'm sure it's not because things have stabilized in Iraq to the point where oil production has become consistent.
Isn't demand from China sucking up the entire world's crude oil supply? /sarcasm
