Easy to maintain cover. Cheap motels have very little surveillance whereas more expensive hotels have camera everywhere. Plus, in all likelihood, terrorists would maintain a low profile and also use cheap motels with very little record keeping, etc. It's all what you make of it! What cracked me up was how Jack was using a cell phone he got out of the car he stole for 4 hours and never got a call from the guy he stole the car/phone from or the guy's wife wanting him to pick up groceries.

Remember that movie, "The Day After?" Was that a fantsasy, or a real possibility? I doubt the producers of that film thought that it would really happen, ,but that wanted to scare the people into believing that Reagan's policies were leading to that result. Fact is, however: all that might have happened, and so could something like what was shown on "24."
