The difference between the finest and among the finest has probably been fought out in many a pub, Gasthouse, beer joint, saloon, and various other watering holes with someone needing a trip to the dentist the next day or the hospital that night. It's safe to have this discussion on line, but as you probably know it's fightin' words in some locations to say with great confidence who is the finest. :-) They're all damn exceptional, and they're all heroic figures.

This is a kinder gentler SAS than I remember. In the good old de-Nazification days they didn't take prisoners or leave witnesses.
