Fury at Australia cleric comments

Inter-faith relations have been strained by the remarks

The Australian government has condemned a Muslim cleric for making offensive comments in videotaped lectures. Sheikh Feiz Mohammed, head of the Global Islamic Youth Centre in Sydney, urged children to become martyrs for Islam and mocked Jewish people as pigs.

Police are said to be investigating the tapes, which were exposed in a British TV documentary earlier this week.

Top Australian Islamic cleric Sheikh Hilali also sparked controversy, with remarks on women and white Australians.

Sheikh Feiz Mohammed, who has spent the past year living in Lebanon, talks on the controversial videotapes of his desire for children be offered "as soldiers defending Islam".

"Teach them this," he says, "that there is nothing more beloved to me than wanting to die as a Muhajid.

"Put in their soft, tender heart the zeal of jihad and the love of martyrdom."

He also ridicules Jewish people as pigs and makes snorting noises, saying they will go to hell.

His comments were shown on a British television documentary called Undercover Mosque, which says it found children selling Islamic tapes in a car park behind a UK mosque.

Convicts jibe

Australia's acting attorney-general Kevin Andrews described Sheikh Feiz Mohammed's comments as "offensive, unacceptable and outrageous".

Leader of the opposition Labor party, Kevin Rudd, said the sheikh should not return to Australia.

Australia's Muslims fear backlash

"These are appalling statements and they have no place in Australia," he said.

The federal police said they were investigating whether the cleric had breached anti-terrorism laws and incited acts of violence, according to Australian media reports.

Australia's Islamic Friendship Association president, Keysar Trad, said the remarks did not reflect the views of the wider Muslim community.

"They certainly give the public an erroneous impression about Islam and Muslims," he said.

The latest controversy follows a furore over comments by Australia's top Muslim cleric last year.

Sheikh Taj el-Din al-Hilali caused a storm of protest after comparing scantily-dressed women to "uncovered meat", comments he said were taken out of context.

He hit the headlines again recently when he told Egyptian television that Muslim Australians had more rights to the country than white Australians whose ancestors arrived as convicts.

I read he said something to the effect that western democracies have freedoms that go so far as to be absurd. And he and his other Islamofacists will use those freedoms against us at every opportunity they can get.

At least the Brits and the Aussies get outraged.

This sort of stuff happens in America, and the average joe just shrugs and blows it off unless it directly inconveniences him.

There's been hardly a word written about this Documentary in the U.S. print media, and Larry Elder alone of the syndicated talk radio hosts carried transcripts of these hatemongers spreading their tripe yesterday.

How long will it be until we wake up and realize that Islam IS the enemy until the "moderates" rise up and purge their faith of this element.

Until then, they should all be treated as suspect.

I wonder what CAIR has to say about this? Anyone see their statement of outrage? Their commitment to peace?

If this guy's views do not reflect the views of the wider Muslim community, how come he was made mufti of Australia? Didn't the "wider muslim community" place him in that exalted position?

Hatred of Jews is endemic among Muslims worldwide. That is a fact.

I love the fact that whenever we do something "inflammatory" to muslims their response is noted as defense. When we get offended by what they do and we respond it is called a backlash. Why? Seriously?
I love the way they set themselves up as victims before anything has even "backlashed."

So, I guess I can expect the AG to put this guy on trial for hate crimes much like the protestant preachers in Victoria who have been fighting jail time for a year now over their comments about Islam?

Islam is not a religion. It is a disease. Their behavior, teachings and beliefs are sickening to civilized people.

For this guys religious sake I hope he is practicing a little Taquiyya to keep us Infidel swine off balance.

Otherwise if he disagrees with the the statements he needs to get back to the fundamentals of his Religion.

What Muslim mothers shnould want is their children to get to heaven with Allah and not get along with Infidel swine for temporary earthly gains. - tom

People need to wake up to the fact that Islam is NOT a "religion" in the sense with which we are familiar. It is a POLITICAL MOVEMENT.
