Do you have a link? Can't see how you can have a RAILgun w/o physical contact of the sabot w/the rail, to conduct the electric current. Could this actually be a linear induction motor? That's basically what the quenched superconducting rings-cannon is, a linear induction motor.

Yes, the word "this" in my previous post is the link to a PDF document with the author's research outlined. You're correct that it isn't a railgun, but a superconducting ring device that doesn't need a sabot.

Very true! It was called "Project Babylon" and was the brainchild of Dr. Gerald Bull (a Canadian) who was assassinated during the project. It is rumored that the CIA or Mossad killed him. The project ended when parts for it were seized in the UK.
I'm pretty sure that was a supposed to be just a very large conventional cannon, not a rail gun
