It is becoming painfully obvious and disturbing that our government is not functioning as it was intended. It is taking too much of our money and not doing nearly what it should be doing to keep us safe and free. It is time for another revolution to put us back on track not a conventionally waged revolution no one should be killed, at least not in a literal sense. Nothing should be destroyed except wrong ideas and wrongful practices. It should be a political revolution with a new political party and a new kind of candidate.
We could officially declare the establishment of the FREE REPUBLIC Party the first internet conceived and based political party. We could start at the top , the presidency. Let the two antiquated parties fight over congress for now. We can have an internet primary and an internet compaign complete with debates, that is what we do after all. Our candidate would become well known when the media figures out the entertainment value in something like this. And, at the least, Jim would be recognized for the valuable contribution he has made to this country by the establishment of Free Republic.
There is much more to this idea but I am not going to get into those details at this time. I want to see what fellow freepers think about this idea. I am writing this on a plane coming back from a tour in a remote area of Afghanistan. I have been somewhat out of touch for several months so I will need more input before more specific details of this idea are offered. And, I might be a little out of the loop until established back in the states. I will be debriefing in the Washington DC area for the first part of the week and then traveling back home to California; but whatever, I hope this idea holds some value to Freepers.
And of course I would like to be a candidate for the Freeper primary for the Presidency of this great country. I know what a long shot this is but I would love the battle involved I am a warrior after all. And please do not jump to conclusions regarding my positions on the relevant issues war, abortion, taxes, imigration, etc. - I am still open to influence on these matters. But I know from first hand experience that we are not winning the war on terror. We need a Commander-in-Chief who knows more about war than the current president and those who appear to be possible candidates for his job. I will be happy to confront this and all other issues in freeper style if that turns out to be what is desired. For an election the ideas are not as important as the qualifications - for doing the job well, ideas are what counts. We need to consider both.

Lets do this right and set the political landscape on its head. Just one more note, a radically conservative candidate would have little chance of creating enough interest. It would have to be someone who is moderate and open to any view no matter what side of the political environment. That is a position for which I strive and I have changed some of my ideas as a result of debates here on FR. Check my bio. If you are interested, pass the word and let the debates begin - well, as soon as I get back to California would be good, but whenever.
Perhaps the time has come.
I want a government that makes lobbying illegal. I want a government that enforces the immigration laws. I want a country that embraces morality and ethics. I want wars waged to win.
So you think it's time for a revolution?
That time was about 40 years ago when the
Gov't and courts infringed our FREEDOM OF RELIGION
and our right to publicly and openly pray and discuss
our creator.
Leave the "morals & ethics" to the philosphers and Holy Men - The governments job is to print money, build roads, maintain infrastructure, provide for defense and keep "a semi-level" playing field between the states.
Mixing "morality & ethics" with the power of government is a recipe for disaster...
Low tax rates is what I support.
The longer you put off paying a big debt, the cheaper the dollars are when you pay it off, and letting the 'children' do it won't hurt as bad as some threaten.
First law should be a 6% cap on all tax rates. They could have all the progression they want, from 0% to 6% max.
N0 arbritrary numbers, a stated fixed 6%, while demonizing the double digit taxation.
This is an idea that has been bouncing around my head for a while as well. Hell, look what How-Weird Dean with the internet. The problem would be to get the MSM to even cover it. More on what I want from a candidate later
Third "parties" whose reason for being is the Presidency come and go.
Unless you can elect State Reps and Members of Congress, you'll never get anywhere.
I like it.
So IOWs... Diplomacy is the answer? Change the leadership through peaceful means... "...no one should be killed, at least not in a literal sense..." The left uses these same talking points.
Give it up pal... Unless the citizenry would have no problem getting a little bloody over your proposed ideology for change, it ain't never gonna happen. Especially when the grass roots effort is spawned from a PC, Non-Violent Forum....
That's the same as saying... "Hey, let's put a fourth party in charge in Iraq thru peaceful means!"
America is at that awkward stage.
It is too late to work within the system, but too early to shoot the bastards. - Claire Wolfe
Note that I said that I want a COUNTRY that embraces morals and ethics, not a government...althought that would be a nice bonus.
Eliminate "affirmative action" and all race-based preferences. Restore equality in hiring and college admission to white males.
Eliminate all aspects of PC which make us unsafe against terrorists from within the USA and from outside.
Expel those who use the laws of the USA to preach and practice hate against those who don't accept their ideology.
Eliminate government programs which do not solve the problem but only increase dependency on the government.
Eliminate laws which get in the way of free market transactions.
Control the borders and bar entry to all from countries that sponsor terrorism.
And a few other things as well.
Find someone who can give us that and I'm in.
Think Ross Perot
Think Bill Clinton
Think Semper
Think Hillary
Become a candidate and debate me. Just wanting is not enough, you have to go out and fight for what you want and before that you better make darn sure that is really what you want because you might get it.
That quote's been going through my mind quite a bit lately.
Warner has turned into a RINO also.
The press is one of our greatest institutions (granted it has not lived up to that recently) but the solution is to get them on our side - to win the battle of information and ideas. The mind set of destroying what we don't like will not get it done. The battle is to win them to our side. What is our side? Truth, freedom, courage, results, etc.
Because we are relatively a little late you want to give up? We can't change the past but we sure can shape the future.
I sometimes get that feeling myself.
For PC, one should study Herbert Marcuse and the Frankfurt School.
IV. Herbert Marcuse, 1898-1979
A. Bourgeois Capitalist civilization must be overthrown by discrediting existing beliefs and replacing them with revolutionary or proto-revolutionary beliefs.
B. Founding Father of Political Correctness.
1. "Free Expression" is actually repressive, because it permits the bourgeois capitalists and other counter-revolutionary or anti-revolutionary individuals and groups to express their beliefs and values - values that must be overthrown.
2. Advocates "the withdrawal of toleration of speech and assembly" for conservative or Christian individuals and groups.
a. Denounce them as hate groups, atavistic, fascist, or intolerant.
b. Denounce conservative or Christian speech as hate speech.
d. Do not allow colleges or universities to become "forums" for politically incorrect speech.
3. Advocates "Liberating Tolerance."
a. "intolerance against movements from the Right, and toleration of movements from the Left."
b. "new and rigid restrictions on teaching and practices in the educational institution" to indoctrinate students "progressive" values.
c. Speech Codes on campuses.
d. Reject the values of Western Civilization as "regressive."
e. Reject the "Western Canon" of literature as "regressive."
f. Promote Marxism as "progressive."
g. Denounce and discredit those who resist this "progressive" agenda as "reactionary" or "fascist" "racist" or "the extreme right" etc.
In my training as a Marine Officer, morality and ethics were a key part of good leadership. I agree that it is an individual responsibility to figure out what is right and wrong. The better you can do that, the better leader you may become (good leadership requires many elements).
I prefer taking a lesson from The Godfather movie...the baptism scene to be specific.
If Thomas Jefferson and George Washington were alive today, they would be fighting over the length of the list of people to be dispatched.
"It would have to be someone who is moderate and open to any view no matter what side of the political environment"
No way!!!!!
I want a government that makes lobbying illegal.
Good point. I will work on that.
Create a truly Conservative Cable Network.
An Island Called Liberty
Dr. Suess meets Ayn Rand
Inside is a story of a right friendly land,
Where people were quick to lend a free hand.
With the best of intentions they passed many laws,
To fix what they felt were quite fixable flaws.
But the fixes, they found, were too much in the end,
For the bureaus and programs and taxes they penned.
Once the lessons were learned, heres what they knew:
The contentment of many cant come from the few.
That is certainly part of the plan. But to do that you need an attention getter. If all initial focus and effort goes towards the presidency to start, moving to local politics will be more effective.
Get real. The average American "citizen" can't tell you who his House representative is, who his Senators are, or name one Supreme Court justice. He can tell you who is the top draft choice in the NFL or who is on Oprah. It's too late for a revolution, there are not enough people left who give a shit.
Thank you. That is my favorite reply so far.
"Who is John Gault?"
I am going go have a good time proving that statement wrong. All I need is a little help from my friends. Freepers can make a difference.
We already have a "moderate" party........they're called the republicans.
Idea has some merit, but would require people to do a lot of internet reading. With the average American attention span of around 9 seconds coupled with the usual and customary room-temperature IQ, not much would really get done. The idea would soon fizzle, except for the die hard, politically conscious...and those are probably in the minority as the last congressional elections already demonstrated.
Stop watching commercials and sports that are on the networks which completely enable the Democratic Party by brainwashing urban voters.
check
The GOP is run by pious passive wimps that are fully Tone Deaf.
If this outlook has been rejected time and again on theis very forum in regard to our Country's enemy, how is domestic war any different?
You make a good case for a new party. Thanks.
Freepers, I am leaving for Church now; I will check back later - keep up the debate.
theis = this
Sounds like you've been brainwashed by a liberal.
I don't know about you, but I just don't have the time to keep track of what the scoundrels in Washington are planning to do to me next. So I belong to a several groups of like minded citizens (e.g. NRA, AOPA) which do keep track for me, and (oooooh) lobby on behalf of their members.
You would make this illegal?
ML/NJ
You make a good case for a new party. Thanks.
The activist left has changed their voting affiliation to Republican in order to get liberal Republicans elected. The useful idiots in the Republican party vote for the liberal Republicans just because they have an (R) after their name!
Vote for a liberal, you get liberalism. Get it?
Don't vote (D/L). Don't vote (R/L). Don't vote for a letter of the alphabet.
Vote for a Philosophy. Vote for a Conservative.
The other issue with this idea is that the 2 major parties use emotion and lowest common denominator marketing to sell ideas they will never implement. In our dumbed down society this works for those with a 30 second attention span. The arguments we as conservatives make are intellectually based and require people to shelve their emotional attachments and study. The commies in both parties have seen to it that the voting public won't want to invest that much brain power, it's easier to vote for the pretty candidate. This may get people riled but that is why the GOP focuses on the "evangelical" issues and voters. They are swayed by the highly emotionally charged issues like abortion and gay marriage and the like., These are issues the gov't should not be involved in. I want the limited gov't envisioned by Jefferson. Low taxes, almost no federal intervention in issues like education and energy. I want a President who will push his ideas and if congress balks then veto their bills. If nothing gets done, FINE! I want a gov't that fights wars when needed and fights to win, cost be damned. Our enemies should have the smell of our powder in their nose when we are done. I want a president to actually cust spending, not reduce the projected growth but to carve out the waste and reduce the levels of gov't spending. I would love to run but I fear I am just too annoying to get elected. Besides, I have a real job I can't just blow it off to run.
