BANGALORE, India, Jan. 22 (UPI) -- More than 1,000 extra police officers patrolled the streets of Bangalore, India, on Monday after a weekend of deadly sectarian rioting.
The violence began Friday in parts of the city with a large number of Muslim residents, angry over the Dec. 30 execution of deposed Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein, the Indo Asian News Service reported.
Sunday, the demonstrations escalated and police fired on a mob that Bangalore Police Commissioner Achuta Rao said was setting fire to shops and buses, waving knives and throwing stones.
A 12-year-old boy was killed and at least 22 other people were injured, Rao told the Indo Asian News Service.
Two platoons of the military's Rapid Action Force were deployed to enforce a nighttime curfew and schools in the unsettled eastern part of the city were ordered closed until at least Tuesday, the report said.

Muslims use anything as an excuse for rioting.

India: Protesters, Police Clash
Stratfor | January 19, 2007 19 54 GMT
About 400 riot police in Bangalore, India, clashed with thousands of Muslim demonstrators who assembled Jan. 18 to protest the execution of former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein, police said Jan. 19. At least 20 people were injured when police fired live ammo into the air and used tear gas to disperse crowds.
According to reports, the demonstrations turned violent when protesters tried to force Hindu shopkeepers to close their shops and the shopkeepers refused.

Wow. Indirectly, the Islamofascists could help the US with its outsourcing problem.

Police need to consider what they've done to offend the Muslims.
