Military: Four held in sneak attack on U.S. in Iraq (Calling Jack Bauer)

KALSU, Iraq (CNN) -- Four people suspected in last weekend's deadly attack on American soldiers in the central Iraqi city of Karbala have been detained, the U.S. military said Tuesday.

A tip from a Karbala resident led U.S. troops and Iraqi security forces to take the suspects into custody Monday, the military said in a statement.

Five U.S. soldiers died in Saturday's raid in Karbala.

"The suspects were found in a house near the area where the vehicles used in the attack were abandoned after insurgents made their getaway from the scene," the military said.

Karbala police spokesman Abdul Rahman al-Mishawi said Monday that the U.S. military was conducting interrogations at a compound where the militants posing as American military officials attacked. (Watch how the sneak attack was carried out )

About 30 gunmen -- wearing uniforms and driving vehicles similar to those the U.S. military uses -- flashed fake badges and passed easily through three checkpoints before reaching the Karbala Provincial Joint Coordination Center, al-Mishawi said.

He said it is standard procedure for American soldiers to insist on passing checkpoints without submitting to a security screening.

Once in the compound, the assailants opened fire, shooting only U.S. soldiers, al-Mishawi said. (Full story)

Within 2 months all these terrorists will be out of prison viv a vis bribes to the Iraqi judges. Think I'm joking? Talk to a grunt from the streets, not some JAG or perfumed officer from the Green Zone or other command palace.

If they were wearing fake US military uniforms and used fake badges or US military credentials, then under the Geneva Convention that the left so adamately wants us to apply to the terrorists they can be immediately shot as spies.

>>>Hopefully they are being detained by their testicles.<<<

Hopefully their testicles are being detained seperately!

I don't think castration is specifically called out as illegal in McCain's Senate anti-torture bill.

It depends on the meaning of "real". They were real uniforms and had real emblems on them that read US but the question remains, were they "real""US" uniforms or real US uniforms? Hillary has it right either which way. /s

Yes, make them all die of injuries and save the expense of a Gitmo run.
