My son is in training right now too. He's Guard, though, and unlikely to deploy anytime soon. I'm danged proud of him, though. Fastest runner in his company, and made sharpshooter. :-)

It is a real joy to witness his precipitious fall from even the minor credibility he once had. Of course, having never heard the whiz of an incoming small arms round or the ''wump'' of a mortar or felt a pressure wave and heat of a explosion he is supremely comfortable in minimizing the combat he's never known.
