Howie Carr live thread. (Interesting post on Scott Allen Miller's blog, which is linked to WRKO, today: "Echoes of Cellucci?

"I have become aware of a story about Governor Deval Patrick that is about to break. I can't share it with you now because it's embargoed but I so want to. It's the first scandal of his administration. It's not a huge one, though, and it will be explained away by his sycophants and spinners as an honest mistake. Even if it is, will Patrick do what's right to make proper amends for this supposedly honest mistake? Stay tuned (now that Patrick has convinced you to tune back in)..."

I think it's time to start a dossier on Gov. Deval Plastic, because when he's ready to get bigger than governor of the Commonwealth, people will need to know what a huckster he really is. From the clinton DOJ, to corporate token, to the jail birds he set free, to his unregistered sex offender brother, to his unpaid taxes, to his loans on that mansion in the Berkshires, to his plastic campaign rhetoric, to his encouraging the Solons to violate the constitution by refusing to vote on the Marriage Amendment on virtually the eve of his inauguration, to this tidbit offered by Scott Miller. It's a start, anyway.

OK moonbats now take those damn Kerry bumper stickers
off your cars!

Boston Globe-Democrat:

"Senator John F. Kerry plans to announce today that he is bowing out of the 2008 presidential race, and will instead remain in Congress and seek reelection to his Senate seat next year, according to senior Democratic officials.

"Kerry, a Massachusetts Democrat, plans to say he will remain in the Senate to recommit himself to efforts to extricate the United States from the war in Iraq. His decision to stay out of the presidential race reflects a realization that he would have had an uphill climb in capturing the Democratic nomination, given the other party heavyweights who are already in the race, according to the officials, who spoke to the Globe on condition of anonymity.

"Kerry plans to make his plans known with a speech on the Senate floor this afternoon, and is taping a message to e-mail his supporters to explain his decision.

"Kerry, the party's 2004 presidential nominee, has been acting like a 2008 candidate virtually since he lost to President Bush -- traveling the country, spreading money to other Democratic candidates, and keeping in place a campaign infrastructure that was ready for another presidential bid.

"But according to Kerry associates, the senator's plans changed dramatically in the fallout of his election-eve ``botched joke" about the education levels of US troops. The harsh reaction to that incident -- from many Democrats as well as Republicans -- displayed to Kerry the extreme skepticism within his own party about whether he should mount another run.

"And, with polls giving front-runner status to Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York and Senator Barack Obama of Illinois, Kerry realized that he would face formidable adversaries in the quest for the Democratic nomination. Clinton, Obama, and a host of other candidates have been busily hiring campaign operatives and signing up key fund-raisers in recent weeks."

"On Iraq, Kerry has emerged as a fierce war critic after initially supporting the invasion of Iraq. He has spoken of his war opposition in a similar vein to his efforts to bring the Vietnam War to a conclusion in the early 1970s.

"Kerry's announcement freezes in place the various Democratic aspirants to his Senate seat. Massachusetts hasn't had a vacant Senate seat since 1984 -- when Kerry himself won his first six-year-term -- and several members of the state's all-Democratic congressional delegation have expressed interest in running for the Senate if Kerry retired."

I think I asked you this question but I'm confused. When the Red Sox land at WRKO will they pre-empt Rush?

Durint the regular season, no, though there will probably be some during spring training. As a rule, daytime weekday games and Wed. nights will be on WEEI.

Press release via WRKO:
>>The 2007 season initiates WRKO’s new 10-year partnership with the Red Sox. The station will air all regular season games with the exception of Wednesday nights and weekday afternoons, which can be heard on sister station WEEI 850 AM. In addition, WRKO will carry 15 Red Sox Spring Training games from Florida beginning February 28 against Minnesota.

Here are the games that will wind up pre-empting Rush,
unless WEEI winds up with them instead:

Monday, Mar. 5 - Sox vs. Dodgers 1:05p City of Palms
Wednesday, Mar. 7 - Sox vs. Mets 1:05p City of Palms
Thursday, Mar. 8 - Sox vs. BlueJays 1:05p City of Palms

Wednesday, Mar. 14 - Sox vs. Pirates 1:05p City of Palms
Friday, Mar. 23 - Sox vs. Orioles 1:05p City of Palms

Tuesday, Mar. 27 - Sox vs. Pirates 1:05p City of Palms
Thursday, Mar. 29 - Sox vs. Drays 1:05p City of Palms

LOL -- as I recall it, there wasn't a "harsh" reaction. It's just that after the "HALP US, JON CARRY" sign made the internet -- and the news -- he was a complete laughing stock (as he should have been all along of course; it just got harder to ignore!)

Anyone catch Kerry's speech in the Senate? Howie said that that's where he was announcing he wouldn't run (is that normal? to announce a non-candidacy on the Senate floor?), but he also gave a "history lesson" on the split between Shiites and Sunnis (?!) -- the rest was apparently too boring even for Howie to make fun of. What's the story?

preview of tomorrow's Howie column now up!

Moonbats mourn Kerry’s choked-up exit
By Howie Carr
Boston Herald Columnist
Wednesday, January 24, 2007 - Updated: 04:38 PM EST

Now will the moonbats finally peel the old 2004 Kerry-Edwards bumper stickers off their Volvos?

What a shame that we won’t have John Forbes “Liveshot” Kerry to kick around anymore! From “Do you know who I am?” to “Do you know who I was?”

Somewhere, Manny Ortiz weeps. Who will the windsurfing caucus back now? In Green Bay, they’re draping “Lambert Field” in black crepe. What happens to the “magic hat” he wore during ... yes, Christmas in Cambodia? Can he get back to training to run “again” in the Boston Marathon, not to mention hunting that 24-point buck that he claimed he stalked down on the Cape.

America’s Gigolo is out of the fight. Who will be K-Fed’s role model now?

John Kerry did a 180, and now we’ll never see his DD 214.

Another thing we’ll never see again: his Harley hog. Now he can go back to his real motorcycle roots - the Ducati Paso 907 IE.

No more will he see him out on the campaign trail at midnight, announcing the late scores from the American League in his true-fan style: “Yankees 2, Red Sox 3.”

The rumors started last weekend, and the key development was the appearance of Liveshot at a wake on Sunday for the mother of an elected county politician north of Boston. When John Kerry shows up at a wake in Malden or Medford, you know he’s running for reelection to the Senate, although the way the story was told to me, some of Kerry’s oldest habits were on display outside the funeral home where the wake was held.

“It was cold, damn cold, and we were all waiting in the line to get inside,” the local pol explained. “And then that !@#$ %& Kerry shows up - and he cuts the line!”

Look for more from Howie Carr in tomorrow’s paper.
