Let Crist pay for it himself.

Yeah, like that will happen.

To say nothing about the supply need should they ever go into production with something. That is the ethical question that they dare not face.

No, Guenevere, not at all happy but marginally happier than if Jim Davis was pushing this and a whole lot more. Time to remind Charlie that he can be a single-term governor if he keeps on that path.

So, personally, do you believe there is a human spirit with the human being and when do you believe that spirit arrives, if you believe there is such a thing?

Bingo! WHY must any taxpayer in ANY state be on the hook for this? I mean didn't California mandate 2 billion dollars for this? I realize that the left wants to "show up" the Religious Right, but they do it at their own expense, because EVERYBODY pays for it.

You started this thread, then implied embryos in Nitrogen tanks of in vitro clinics are fair game for dissmemberment for their body parts, their stem cells. How about getting the balls to answer the questions I asked you. The humanity of these embryos is the central issue for the' right', so stand up and debate this.

One of the legislators said that their main objection to embryonic stem fund research funding is that if you throw it in with funding for other kinds of stem cell research, then they all go down together. Personally, that is where I'd like to be. Maybe we'll get lucky. Government should not be funding this. There are plenty of private interests who will do it.

To me it's not. To me, it's purely an issue of $$$$. Even if I conceded your point that an embryo is a human being (which I don't) then I still think you are on the wrong track. Embryonic stem cell research does not kill embryos that are otherwise going to live. And even if it did, we have billions of embryos in this country that are killed on a regular basis. Why get exorcised over these particular few? Why not expend your efforts to ban the production of embryos altogether?

Irrespective, however, I just don't think the government should be funding it. The fact that some (like you) think it is morally repugnant makes me think all the more that the government should not be funding it.

It's the fault of the far right that embryonic stem cells have proven to be worthless, while adult stem cells have proven to work? Why should anyone pay for researching something that is a failure?

Thank you for finally responding. Prove your billions assertion and answer the question of whether you believe there is a human spirit, at any age you choose to name if it will help you seek a dodge. But if you believe there is a human spirit, can you tell us when that spirit comes to the alive ORGANISM started at conception? Finally, you will die eventually also; should we put you on the fast trqack for harvesting at your current age?

No, I don't think there is a human spirit in an embryo. I don't need to deal with the more difficult question of when the spirit comes alive, because we're just talking about an embryo.

If you're so upset about this, then why is your anger directed at stem cell research? Shouldn't you be attacking the whole concept of creating and destroying embryos? Your approach is sort of like being opposed to murder, but only if it occurs during a liquor store robbery.

You don't need to deal with when the spirit comes alive? Nice dodge that ... you don't know when so you favor erring on the side of willful destruction and comfort your choice with willful ignorance.

You nor I can prove when the spirit takes up residence (you're still dodging answering whether you even believe there is a human spirit), but the Bible indicates that God gives the spriit to the little ones and that happens sometime during the nine months from conception to birth.

A person selfish enough to kill because of expedience and utilitarian application of the corpse doesn't want to seek the truth because it might conflict with the selfish desire. But then, you're only talking about an embryo-aged being and you've decided that such a young one is not yet a human being. Circular reasoning, that.

The private sector can fund this sufficiently. It's not a moon program or a supercollider, but something with direct market potential.
