Well, I read an article last week that said that even though the East coast enjoyed warm weather this fall and early winter, the rest of the world was experiencing one of the coldest winters.

In Colorado today we're supposed to see 55 degrees and do some serious melting. I'll take that! Maybe I will be able to see my drive someday!
Just repeat after me, "this is consistent with our models." (Of course, every kind of weather is.)

Don't you understand? Global warming means more snow. I saw it on Discovery Channel.
These same people will never believe that a tax cut will provide increased revenue.

I just posted this article as a fun piece...
But you reeeeely don't buy into this "global warming" now do you...I mean the temps have been rising and falling for decades ever since we've been recording them. From the 1860's to the 1940's the temperatures were warmer while from the 1940's to the 1950's, they were colder...it's cyclical...nothing more, nothing less.

I can attest to the streets becoming one lane in Anchorage. I live on the east side and we have LOTS of snow. Our cul-da-sac just got plowed early, early this morning...and some of it is one lane. Then getting out to a main drag is also 1 lane at times and is a bus route...
The mailbox...
New camera...settings not figured out yet.

"Compared to Alaska, Colorado's winter has been very mild, indeed."
I live up the hill from Sacramento, CA. For the first time since I moved here in 1981, my pool is frozen solid and has been for two weeks or more. The ice is about 1.5" thick! While this might--I say might--serve as evidence of climate change, it certainly doesn't suggest global warming.

Snow is pretty when it first falls, but it sure gets ugly after laying around a while. I would think they could find a place top put it in a big State like that i know they used to dump it in the River here. Hauling it is expensive however.

Doesn't Anchorage get an average total of 70 inches of snow per year?
And aren't the top ten seasonal record total snowfalls well over 100 inches?
Whining wimps!
That's far less than, say, Buffalo, New York, or most of Michigan.

"Increased snowfall up north IS consistent with a warmer, higher-moisture weather system ... which may indeed be part of a gradual climate change. I can deal with that. Climate cooling over the ages reduced snowfall, now it can increase if the [actual] climate model shifts."
We are coming out of a cycle that started with an Ice Age. It warmed, ice melted, it grew warmer. As it warms the atmosphere holds more water, which is taken up to high latitudes, where even higher temperatures are below freezing, more water precipitates as snow further north. Enough snow lasting through the summer, and ice starts to build. Soon you have a continental ice sheet plowing down out of Canada and the cycle starts again. What does this mean? Time to buy your grandchildren land in Costa Rica.
To: kellynla
Well, they can always do what the plow drivers do around here - take a three-lane street and plow half of the outside lanes to the side of the road and half of it into the middle lane. Problem solved.
Oh, yeah, if you want to change lanes or turn left you have to wait until spring... ;-)

Somebody hand Al Bore a snow-shovel!Heck no! You think the weather's bad in Anchorage now, just wait until Al shows up!

Back when the media thought we were heading into a new "Ice Age", one of the theories was that of a "Snow Blitz".

-20 now, maybe 18" snow all winter, all still on the ground. Slightly colder and dryer than average. Global warming ended a decade ago.
