Pigs Get the Ax
SHANGHAI -- Next month, China will ring in the Year of the Pig. Nestlé SA planned to celebrate with TV ads featuring a smiling cartoon pig. "Happy new pig year," the ads said.
This week, China Central Television, the national state-run TV network, banned Nestlé's ad -- and all images and spoken references to the animal in commercials, including those tied to the Lunar New Year, China's biggest holiday.
China's postal service has launched 'Year of Piglet' stamps The intent: to avoid offending Muslims, who consider pigs unclean. "China is a multiethnic country," the network's ad department said in a notice sent to ad agencies late Tuesday. "To show respect to Islam, and upon guidance from higher levels of the government, CCTV will keep any 'pig' images off the TV screen."

China has one province that is primarily Muslim, and the central government keeps their eyes on them quite closely... they, unlike our leaders, recognize them for the threat they are.

There are theories that the government is trying to make up for killing 18 people in a Muslim region who were classified as terrorists.
The region is the Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region which is associated with Muslim separatist activity. Turkish is spoken in the area.

It sounds absurd, but I predict that eventually pork will be banned here in the US. At least public consumption. Because what if a Muslim comes into a restaurant and BBQ is being served? Doesn't he have the "right" to not be offended? The precedent has already been established.
Isn't insulin for diabetics made from pigs? Do Muslim diabetics go without it?
Now that takes me by suprise, considering that the ChiComs are not afraid the suppress their Muslims who live in the northwestern part of China will not tolerate any Islamofacists attacks.
That would not suprise me because the ChiComs are getting ready for the Summer Olympics Games in Bejjing and want no problems from their Muslims.
