""I discovered that the homilies in these churchs were no longer about Jesus or the Bible. In fact, I went to a Methodist service at Easter one year to be with my mother in law. Not one mention of the Resurrection or Our Lord. Wow."

Note the above "sermon" only mentions Jesus' name once and not in a religious or biblical context. Seems fixed on the world rather than the Holy Spirit."

No surprise here. The Marxist left has targeted Christian institutions right along with government, labor, and education. All pillars of civilization that must be co opted before their Marxist Utopia can be realized. Notice that Jimmy and Bill are attempting to do the same to the Baptists right now.

Ya'll don't think that 90+% black vote is a coincidence, do you? Marching orders come from the churches.

I no longer believe the Black Church is Fundamentalist. It isn't openly evolutionist/anti-supernaturalist/higher critical. They just avoid the issue altogether, and since most conservatives are focused on economic issues they get away with it.

I've never poured one anthill on top of another to see them fight, but in this case I'd love to try.

THE BLACK VALUE SYSTEM

Commitment to the Black Family
The Black family circle must generate strength, stability, and love despite the uncertaintyof externals, because these characteristics are required if the developing person is to withstand warping by our racist competitive society.

Disavowal of the Pursuit of “Middleclassness”
Classic methodology on control of captives teaches that captors must keep the captiveignorant educationally, but trained sufficiently well to serve the system. Also, the captorsmust be able to identify the “talented tenth” of those subjugated, especially those who show promise of providing the kind of leadership that might threaten the captor’s control.

Those so identified as separated from the rest of the people by:

Killing them off directly, and/or fostering a social system that encourages them to kill offone another.

Placing them in concentration camps, and/or structuring an economic environment that induces captive youth to fill the jails and prisons. Seducing them into a socioeconomic class system which while training them to earnmore dollars, hypnotizes them into believing they are better than others and teaches themto think in terms of “we” and “they” instead of “us”.

So, while it is permissible to chase “middle-incomeness” with all our might, we must avoid the third separation method-the psychological entrapment of Black “middleclassness”: If we avoid the snare, we will also diminish our “voluntary”contributions to methods A and B. And more importantly, Black people no longer will be deprived of their birthright, the leadership, resourcefulness, and example of their own talented persons.

Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr.

Under his leadership, Trinity adopted the motto "Unashamedly Black and Unapologetically Christian" and has set out to make activism within and on behalf of the African American community a key aspect of the church's mission. An outspoken community leader, Wright has been vocal in making once-taboo issues, such as AIDS, a priority within the African American church leadership and service. His commitment to political activism, coupled with his dedication to the African American sermonic tradition, has made him a highly sought-after speaker nationally and internationally.

The Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. Senior pastor of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, is considered one of the nation’s leading authorities on and advocates for social, spiritual and economic justice. His topic is “The Emerging of African American Cultures: Who Stole my Identity?”

When he took over Trinity United Church of Christ in 1972, Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr. was a maverick pastor with a wardrobe of dashikis and a militant message.

Six years later, he planted a "Free South Africa" sign on the lawn of his church and asked other local religious leaders to follow his lead.

None took him up on the invitation.

The sign stayed until the end of apartheid, --long enough to catch the eye of a young Barack Obama, who visited the church in 1985 as a community activist. Obama, was not a churchgoer at the time, but he found himself returning to the sanctuary of Trinity United. In Wright he had found both a spiritual mentor and a role model.

with his win in the Democratic U.S. Senate primary race for a U.S. Senate seat, he found a growing audience by preaching the politics of social justice

The rebellious son of a Baptist minister, Wright was hired by Trinity United when he could find no Baptist church to take him. The congregation on 95th Street, then numbering just 87, had recently adopted the motto "Unashamedly black and unapologetically Christian." They did not mind his fiery red Afro and black power agenda.

often questioning the common sense of Scripture, objecting to mandatory prayer in schools and clashing with clergy

"The black church is probably the only space in America where black men can have unquestioned authority,"

Wright takes members of his flock to different African nations every year. Wright also encourages youths in the congregation to attend historically black colleges and universities

The pastor warned the community activist that getting involved with Trinity might turn off other black clergy because of the church's radical reputation.

the senator does check with his pastor before making any bold political moves.

I noticed that the Pastor's message had just one mention of Jesus, and was otherwise an entirely political screed.

Also, what's with this "Disavowal of the Pursuit of Middleclassness" (#8 ) ?

How does that "jive" with Osama's purchase of a sumptious home and sidelot ?

While I lived in Philly, I attended a small Housechurch led by an immigrant Liberian Pastor. I've also lived in Zimbabwe and attended Church there.

In neither case did I ever hear politics disguised as religion, but, to the contrary, real Bible-based Christianity by people who really knew where their Savation lay.

My Liberian pastor prayed every week for our President Bush and for the troops.

Sorry, these political Churches cannot hold a candle to the real authentic worship of Jesus by Africans on this continent or in Africa.

Sorta odd for an alleged "Christian church" to profess a total of 22 committments, and not a single mention of Jesus Christ as their Lord and savior.

"They follow the Seven Principles of Kwaannza"
And they aren't all bad in my opinion although extremely unrealistic in light of the current black mindset of today.
The clincher for me in their list of principles was"the disavowal of middle classness"
And you know doggone well that EVERYONE in this church are black middle and upper middle class professionals living VERY bourgois lifestyles.
So like the rappers say,"Ain't no future in yo'fronting"

Anyone who endorses the kind of "reasoning" implicated in this quiz could not be trusted with the security of the United States.

Obama considers himself an African American even though he is half white. This fraud if elected will not be the presdient of all Americans. He will do what he thinks is the best for "his people" (blacks). Most whites that will vote for him will do so out of guilt in order to prove that they themselves are not racist.

His commitment to political activism, coupled with his dedication to the African American sermonic tradition, has made him a highly sought-after speaker nationally and internationally.

Translation: the guy's a fake, a Jim Jones-style atheist who uses the Fundamentalist revivalist style to deliver his atheist sermons ("Rev." Jones even used to perform "healings" while simultaneously claiming G-d doesn't exist).

Funny how similar the "Afro-American sermonic tradition" is to the sermonic tradition of "ignorant, bigoted, redneck, snake-handling holy rollers," but no one except Thomas Sowell has pointed this out.

I guess white people are too highly "evolved" to go in for that stuff, while it's perfectly understandable for those quaint, primitive "people of color."

I didn't not know that linking to a site that offers the full text was a violation. I've never read that before, or seen it enforced.

If I have ever violated your settlement agreement before, it is news to me. AFAIK, I have always carefully excerpted articles from sites here, except one time -- a NYT piece, when I didn't realize they were included. (Since at the time they didn't show up on the list.)

Not hard to do.

Harry Belefonte has become a caricature of a caricature.

Which is too bad.

He recorded the most spiritual Christmas Album I've ever listened to, some 40 years ago.

He should have stuck to Day-O and his other Jamaican roots.

I love this contradiction:

"8. Disavowal of the Pursuit of "Middleclassness""

"10. A congregation working towards ECONOMIC PARITY."

The only way to achieve economic parity without seeking middleclassness is for the middle class to become impoverished.

I think this is the church I watched late one night right before the last election. The so called minister was telling everyone how to vote. I sent him an email questioning that and never heard from him. If it had been another conservative church doing this, everyone would have been in an uproar about it.

Well, now you know and you have a choice to make. Your link on this thread links to a page on your site containing a full text copy of a Chicago Tribune article which is in violation of our settlement agreement. You need to remove the text from your site or we need to remove this thread. If you post other links to your site containing full text copies from restricted sites, we'll have to remove them too. Of course the link on this thread does not contain the full article. (That what the ellipses mean.)

And of course you could just remove the offending comment.

But I suspect that this is not what all of this is about. Or we would have seen this rule enforced (or maybe even mentioned) before.

My transcription of a sermon purported delivered by Rev. Wright:

God Has Got To Be Sick Of This Shit!

[Joined in progress] … Justice is ignored. When women are treated like, or are permitted by this society to be called publicly "bitches," justice is ignored.

And on that note, on that note, let me paraphrase Dr. Anthony Canpote (sp?), one of the nation’s greatest preachers.

He said something to this effect.

Fact number one: we’ve got more black men in prison than there are in college.

Racism is alive and well. Racism is the American way.

Racism is how this country was founded, and how this country is still run.

No black man can ever be President. I don’t care how hard you run Jesse.

No black woman will ever be considered for anything outside of what she can give with her body.

Fact number three: America is still the number one killer in the world.

We invaded Grenada for no other reason than to get Maurice Bishop. We destroyed Panama because Noriega would no longer dance to our tune anymore.

We are deeply involved in the importing of drugs, the exporting of guns and the training professional killers.

We bombed Cambodia, Iraq and Nicaragua, killing women and children, while trying to turn public opinion against Castro and Qaddafi.

Fact number four: we put Mandela in prison and supported apartheid the whole 27 years he was there.

We believe in white supremacy and black inferiority. And believe it more than we believe in God.

Fact number five: we supported Zionism shamelessly while ignoring the Palestinians, and branding anybody who spoke out against it as being anti-Semitic.

Fact number six: we conducted radiation experiments on our own people. You’re just finding out about that. We care nothing about human life, if the end justifies the means.

Fact number seven: we do not care if poor black and brown children cannot read and kill each other senselessly. We abandoned the cities back in the sixties when the riots started, and it really doesn’t matter what those nnn- natives do to each other.

We gave up on them and public education for poor people who live in the projects. We with VCRs, DVD, CDs and portable phones have more homeless than any nation in the world.

Fact number eight: we started the AIDS virus, and now that it is out of control we still put more money in the military than in medicine. More money in hate than humanitarian concerns.

Everybody does not have access to health care. I don’t care what the rich white boys in the cities say.

[Garbled] listen up. If you are poor black and elderly — forget it.

Fact number nine: we only able to maintain our level of living by making sure the Third World people live in grinding poverty.

Fact number ten: we are selfish, self-centered ego egotists, who are arrogant and ignorant.

We pray at church and do not try to make the kingdom that Jesus talked about a reality.

And, and, and… in light of these in fact God has got to be sick of this shit!

Sorry, I can't post the link to where this is from. But if you look around, you will find it.

Where is the outrage about the 12 dead American citizens killed by *illegal aliens* every day in the United States (that's 23,556 Americans killed since 9-11), and who are dead for no reason other than greed and ego? What’s goin’ on?

Yes I did too.

What do you call a religious organization that is anti-American, anti-Israel, pro-Arab, and pro-Palestinian?

It would be interesting to find out exactly where all the 'plate' is really going.

Dr. Anthony Canpote

Probably Anthony Campolo, one of Clinton's spiritual advisors post-Monica, and the man Clinton is walking with in the famous film clip at Ron Brown's funeral where Clinton is laughing, then notices the camera, and assumes a grave, mourning demeanor (fake).

The real question is: Will the MSM demand that Obama keep himself uninfluenced by his church, like they did to Kennedy? I think not.

You're right. In fact, they think it is wonderful that Obama is so close to this church's lunatic pastor:

If one comes over to the Roman Catholics, one has to be a bit particular where one goes to worship as well. Many conservative Catholics would prefer to keep the politics out of church and prayerfully concentrate on the "Mass".
