SHARON - As he awaits a deportation hearing, Imam Muhammad Masood has been buoyed by support from Christian and Jewish clergy.
During a 90-minute meeting with the imam on Wednesday, seven rabbis, Protestant pastors and a representative from the local Roman Catholic parish pledged a variety of help for the Sharon mosques former spiritual director - snip
The deportation case is based on the denial of the 2001 application for a religious-worker visa, and on his alleged failure to return to Pakistan in 1991, as required by a student visa he used to enroll at Boston University in 1988.
Imam Masood has said he did go home, although Joyce says he has admitted that he returned to the United States illegally in 1993. Joyce says the imam later paid a $7,000 penalty as part of a federal amnesty program and thus believed he was cleared for his 2001 visa application.
Imam Masood had been spiritual director at the Sharon mosque since 1998. He was removed from that position by the Islamic Center board in the weeks after his bail hearing and has not been paid in two months.

snip ----------------------- I am not my brother. That was Imam Muhammad Masoods other message to his fellow Sharon clergy this week.
The imam said that some people might suspect him because his brother, Muhammad Saeed, is one of Pakistans most notorious radical Muslim leaders.-
He disavowed any relationship, certainly with his brothers politics, said deacon Mike Iwanowicz, who represented Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church at the interfaith meeting Wednesday.
Rabbi Barry Starr of Temple Israel and the Rev. Deborah Cayer of the Unitarian Church of Sharon dismissed the family link as guilt by association

"Apparently some of the local Infidel clergy, both Jewish and Christian are clueless about fundamental Islam. - tom"
Unfortunately, the same thing is happening all over. This interfaith garbage with Muslims has to stop. It's nothing more than an Islamic ploy being used on those who want to believe there is actually something good about Islam.
The imam of Ohio's largest mosque got deported about a month ago for lying on his papers, failing to mention his ties to Islamic Jihad. "Community reaction" was about the same as it is in Sharon, MA.
They fail to realize that if the tables were turned and they were in a muslim country he would not do the same for them.
Sharon is also one of the most liberal towns in MA...and that's saying something!
Tom is right. These people are out to lunch.
And they are finding it extremely convenient to believe this so that they don't have to get up and do something about terrorists.
Tom is right. These people are out to lunch.
...but it is a HEALTHY lunch because this was one of the first towns to have an outdoor smoking ban.
Shooting is outlawed in the town also, but paradoxically, a grandfathered rifle and pistol range exists.
A monster housing community is trying to get built near town lines, so as to load the adjacent towns' roads with the traffic and expenses, leaving Sharon nice and pristine.
Sharon is a Berkely-like turd, floating in the Massachusetts cesspool.
One can hope for a big meteor.
Since you have Sharon pegged right, it makes me think the REX in your freeper name is short for Rexhame. - tom
If you die killing Infidels you get to go to heaven and be with Allah.
So for a true believer it has a plus side. - tom
It's also Moonbat Central. It is illegal to smoke on your front porch or backyard.
It's also where Marjorie Claprood lives. Unless she decides to rent a phony apartment in a district where a congressional seat opens up.
Money is available from Saudi Arabia, and I am sure from other Muslim countries.
Here is an excerpt from the Boston Globe.;
By Charles A. Radin and Stephen Kurkjian, Globe Staff | January 10, 2007
The Islamic Society of Boston's effort to build the region's largest mosque has received at least $1 million in financing from a Saudi Arabia-based bank dominated by governments that critics of the mosque project say support Islamic extremism.
The Islamic society acknowledged yesterday receiving a $1 million loan from the Islamic Development Bank in late 2005 -- principal owners of which are Saudi Arabia, Libya, Iran, and Egypt
For every mosque they build here lets suggest they allow a bodacious church be built in SA.
There's a series of undercover videos showing what's going on inside the mosques in Great Britain, even while they are being praised by stupid Brits.
Here's part 1.
