Fonda, Sarandon among Iraq war protesters

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Protesters energized by fresh congressional skepticism about the Iraq war demanded a withdrawal of U.S. troops in a demonstration Saturday that drew tens of thousands and brought Jane Fonda back to the streets.

O.K. I've read now that there are hundreds, thousands and tens of thousands. I’m watching, not listening, to C-SPAN. They occasionally pan out so you can see some of the crowd but it really looks like there MIGHT be a couple of thousand MAX!

Anyone have any accurate numbers on this love fest?

Watching C-Span, I'm sure you also saw lots of coverage of the DC freepers and their anti-protest protest/sarc.

I wonder if the freepers were able to gather more than a dozen or so........it's so hard to get conservatives out for something like this. Could be because most of us have jobs and other responsibilities.

I'm looking forward to Kristinn's report.

Will Jane be taking an anti-aircraft gun with her to the demonstration?

As an organizer, I’d be disappointed. In a country of 275 million only 2000 people showed up. Now that’s a following!

I find it interesting that there were no significant protests for a period, then once the Dems were "swept into power by a growing weariness of the war" there are suddenly "tens of thousands" of people energized to take to the streets.
From what I've seen it is a group of old people attempting to re-live the summer-of-love-and-no-hygeine. Or they have all had a simultaneous bout of senility.

Oh she is culpable, no doubt. But there are others who give her an audience, tell her she's great, that are more dangerous owing in part to their non-celebrity.

More like walking and babbling herpes sores.Like herpes, they never go away, they just have an outbreak now and then.Usually when they need face time for their being on the no call list for acting jobs.Hanoi Jane cry's for sympathy about her dad's being cold towards her should give her a clue about her conduct.I believe he went to his grave with disgust about her actions.I liked Henry.I doubt she did or she would not have impugned her family name.

She doesn't bother me, she is stuck in a hippie feed back loop. What bothers me is the fact that her behavior, and that of those like her, has give moral support to the mass-murders of our time. Pol Pot, Stalin, Mao, and Mihn murdered somewhere in the neighborhood of 50 MILLION people while the world stood watch. Now we are chastised for stopping the next mass murderer at a few hundred thousand by some silver spoon idiots.

That's the problem with the entire left.

They haven't realized if these guys get what they want they'll all be walking around in Burkas.

Then they'll be complaining about how they weren't protected and now they have to walk the streets in Burkas.

“The usual gang of idiots” was coined by MAD Magazine, jokingly referring (if I recall correctly) to MAD’s own staff.
