Cheerful Sunday Morning Ping ya' young whippersnapper you! :)
Well, as the article notes, there are too many boomers for this to have much effect.
If the Boomers have higher-than-expected mortality in their early retirement years, how will that impact Social Security and Medicare solvency projections?
"Our roads, our cars, our buildings, everything is pretty much designed for twenty-somethings...."
Uh-oh...
More for the rest of us greedy devils! ;)
I work in assisted living. Not all of the residents are old folks. More than a few are lefty burnouts in their fifties and sixties who fried their brains with drugs. They talk to me and tell me their life stories. Every one of them has been a lifelong lefty. Most of them are debilitated by mental illness or Parkinsonian Syndrome.
Reap what you sow thread.
Totally bogus report reporting selectively on statistics.
Of course more men than women are dying. Men always die earlier. If you wait a few years and compare the number of men versus women dying you will find more female boomers than men dying.
Of course, this early into the boomer generation you would expect more to die in accidents than from natural causes, particularly since this generation is more healthy and active than previous generations.
I could go on further ...
I kinda ashamed to say it but that was my first thought as well.
This reminds me of the wag who suggested he hoped to be shot by a jealous husband at the age of 98.
Maybe the boomers won't be a burden on Social Security and Medicare after all.
Teach a boomer to hang glide and he/she will be happy for a day.
Teach them all to hanglide every day and we will solve the medicare and soshsecurity crisis forever!
Need I add my /sarcasm?
Social Darwinism working its magic and improving the gene pool.
Yep. That and the cell phone operator in a SUV (you can't call that 'driving').
The lesson to the kids out there: NEVER get rid of your motorcycle. Keep those skills honed into your old age!
The boomers who are dying prematurely are doing the Social Security system a favor. After all somebody has to make room for all the illegals who'll be on the system in the future !!!
I think we need more regulations to control boomner behavior to stop this horrible trend.
Can we all say......... It's for the boomers.
Kinda looks like Joycelyn "teach masturbation" Elders, Klintoons' former Surgeon General, was right.
"We're all gonna die of somethin'...."
Any person 40 or younger today in good health will live to 100-120 because in 30 years there will be no diabetes, no cancer, no heart disease. Our SS system is way off base in its motality tables because they don't incorporate the changes that are coming in health care. The mortality tables increase each year based on improvement in health care but once you get rid of disease the table will drastically increase. The flip side is medicare will go way down because treatments for disease will not be needed.
John
When you've got a financial mind, it just happens :-).
I'm sorry for the family and friends of those who have died, of course.
