Whoa! I'm sorry to hear that. I've enjoyed reading her news stories online and in the Post (when I got it) even back in the days that I was running a daily Joke-of-the-Day page.

Do we have a link? Any details?

I used to see her on Chris Matthews hardball show.
She looked in her 40s, possibly 50s.

See lucianne's home page. I don't know anything beyond the fact that an announcement is posted there, nor do the usual search engines turn up anything, which is why I posted it with a question mark.

You are right. It was Chris Matthews not Fox I saw her on. She always was very calm with Crazy Chris.

Thanks. I checked that. All I saw was a one-liner, that "colleagues say", which may or may not be construed as definitive by some.

I have always read every Deborah-Orin-bylined piece I came across - she was a journalist's journalist, brave and relentless. I remember the constant sneering abuse she took, without batting an eye, from Clinton mouthpieces during press conferences because she broke the Clinton rules: she actually asked them legitimate tough questions. They tried to do to her what they did to every other troublesome woman in those days, but it had no effect on her. She was smart, tough, interested in only facts, with her New Yorker's BS meter trained on all of them. I am hoping against hope that the report isn't true.

Just talking with my Mom and she said she saw her on TV yesterday. I think it might have been the forum with Laura Ingraham and Kate O'Beirne. Hope it's a false rumor. She's a good reporter.

She was always calm... but often I saw her give looks of disbelief at Spitboys fantasy-land assumptions.

You're correct. Mom is almost 89 and called Laura ,Laura Ingles and Kate, Kate Burns. I guess I should be happy that she's watching them on C-Span. She likes to brag to everyone that she never watches the gabage on the "major" networks".

Yes, if there is an absolute ideal of what a professional journalist should be, Orin was it. And prolific beyond belief.

Horrible, horrible news. One of NY's best reporters. The loss to the NY Post of this wonderful journalist is on the par with the loss of their own Eric Breindel several years ago. RIP Deborah.
