24 creator, Joel Surnow, is producing what he calls "A Daily Show for conservatives. Naturally liberals wont admit The Daily Show is Left-leaning, but they dont admit anythings Left-leaning. These are the same people who think CNNs too pro-American. Anyway, The Hot Little Number I Call Mrs. Harry and I were lucky enough to score some seats to watch the taping and had a terrific time. It was our first ever look at the live taping of a TV show and we found it to be a fascinating experience.
The Half Hour News Hour is actually nothing like The Daily Show because The Half Hour News Hour is actually funny. The two stars, Kurt Long and Susan Yeagley, displayed none of Jon Stewarts smug self-satisfied mugging or Colberts tiresome ironic self-awareness. Instead, theyre both charming performers with a strong chemistry who blend seriousness and absurdity in the same way SNL did in the heyday of its Weekend Update series.
Im not going to review the show here. It was shot out of order and the few dud jokes will hopefully be edited out, and how it will all come together is anyones guess. But as a series of sketches, most were laugh-out-loud funny and brutally clever skewering environmentalism, political correctness, the ACLU, and many other liberal sacred cows.
Its nice to finally have a powerful, outspoken producer on our side. Im encouraged by what I saw Saturday and think Surnow understands theres an audience out there largely ignored and ready to become a cash cow with more smart programming. Like I said, I cant recommend a show before its put together, but I strongly recommend you give it a chance. Some of the jokes were timely, so I expect it will air soon.
Apparently Rush Limbaugh is involved with the show. Hope it does well -- it's a necessary counterpoint.
So what time slot do you think this one's going to get?
Excellent. I have long thought that if well done, something like this would be successful.
To be truly funny, one must mix in the Truth - something the Left has in short supply.
Absolutely
The Libs want a "Fairness Doctrine".. They got it! (They will whine about it now, of course)
Anything they can do we can do better.
Of course they won't, it's embarassing.
At a gas/convenience outlet on the Jersey Shore, at the crowded gas pumps, an SUV driver leaves the vehicle to be filled and walks inside. Thakes their time coming out, leaving more than a few people waiting.
Looked and them and said for all to hear, "Exaggerated sense of self-worth, overwhelming sense of entitlement, and a me first attitude when it actually comes down to working with others.....YOU'RE A LIBERAL AREN'T YOU."
And she says, "Take that back!"
Hopefully it will get 11:00 or 11:30 if it is indeed coming on the Fox News channel (I'd rather it not be on a news channel but no big deal) to counter Jon Stewart directly.
I would like to take personal credit for advocating a show like this for the past year or more. I even sent an e-mail to Roger Ailes recommending something like this for conservatives. The problem is where to start. The lib field of lunacy is endless. I am expecting a check from Mr. Surnow commensurate with what the people who come up with these outstanding ideas get. (smirk)
I always thought that any show that looked at liberals woudl be full of laughs. And a big hit $$$. Good comedy makes big $$$.
Good work.
There are too many traitorous Freepers who watch 'the daily show' and 'colbert report' and then falsely state they attacks liberals, too.
If it's only a once-a-week-on-Saturday type thing, that's lame. It's needs to be Daily to be a "Daily Show for conservatives" and to knock at Stewart.
In case anyone is wondering, I think This Just In was the original title before it was changed to The Half-hour News Hour.
Susan Yeagley... Nice looking...

ROFL!
Hope the show does well and that they get the Republican Girls Gone Wild on it.
Their idea about tearing down the UN and putting up a Wal-Mart is genius. Just watch:

She really turned out to be a liberal, didn't she?
The section of "The Limbaugh Letter" titled "NEWSDIGEST", which consists of left-wing nutty stories, legislation, group antics, etc., if produced for TV, would be wonderful!
So many of the stories there would lend themselves to a fast, off-the-wall, format. And, like his TV show ( which was run into the bar-closing hours by broadcasters), if Rush were involved, it would have to be good!
I hope they put The Republican Girls Gone Wild on the show.

So true. I can't stand those guys.
Ha,ha, I wish I could actually take credit, but I'll bet Ailes has been pondering a show like this ever since he took control of FOX. But a little check would be nice...if he actually read my e-mail...which is doubtful. But I'd gladly accept nada from anyone if it would make this show a success.
Is she married to the Kevin Nealen on STL? She is cute.
OOPS. SNL not STL.
Yes, I heard that Rush Limbaugh is involved in the show, and that in their first pilot (the one they scrapped and later re-shot), there was a skit where Rush played the Pressdent and Ann Coulter played the first lady.
The Factor rerun gets higher ratings in the 10pm central slot than all the rest of the cable news shows. Highly doubt FNC will mess with that slot if this new show goes nightly.
Give me 20 on wolf.
Yes. And expecting a baby.
I heard the Creator Joel Surnow on the radio talking about the show and he said he had only made two shows so far because he had to run them by Roger Ailes and see if he liked them. I suppose if they do well and it becomes a hit show, they will start showing them on a daily basis.
Hilarious!!!!
That was pretty cool.
I can't either. I used to like Colbert until he trashed the president at that dinner for journalist.
I can see it now:
"Colmes, you ignorant Slut!"
:oD
How about a "You may be a Libearal..."
recurring skit?
:o)
Then we reply by putting together
a video of a couple of *thousand*
derogarory and slanderous attacks
made on republicans over the years
on every different type of program
coming out of Hollypuke, Buttstank,
& the NY and DC News and talk shows...
hell we wouldn't even have to go back
more than a year or two..much less
the length of time FNC has been on
the air...much less than all the lies
of all the leftist monkey pigs have
been talling on the Late shows as they
bragged about what drunken, drug addict,
immoral trash they are...over the last 45
*years*!..
Yeah you're probably right. I figured after getting kicked in the gonads by Cheney, Wolf would need something to help him get his tail out from his rear. A new cause would just do that in the minds of liberals.
While the devolving DemoSluts will do *any*thing.
It took me a couple of episodes to figure out that the Colbert Report is a show about a liberal pretending to be a conservative and ultimately the goal was to make conservatives looks like idiots.
"The Drunken Adventures of Edward Kennedy" - The camera, imbedded in an ambulance, follows Ole Teddy from his first drink of the day to his last.
"The Hillary For President, Keep An Eye On Bill Segment" - The camera follows a sneaking Bill Clinton as he attempts to keep his escapades from his presidentially aspiring wife.
"Pelosi's Corner" - The camera follows Ms. Speaker as she visits classroom after classroom teaching 'her grandchildren' how she will protect the youngsters rights to become transgendered, transsexual, bisexual, homosexual, and a Sadist or Masochist.
