Wounded Iraq Vet Threatened, Spat on by 'Antiwar' Protesters (D.C. Chapter Report on 1/27/07)
Sunday, January 28, 2007 | Kristinn

Posted on 01/28/2007 5:37:22 PM PST by kristinn

I'm angry. I'm angry at the 'antiwar' protesters who heaped abuse on our troops. And I'm angry at the people who couldn't be bothered to stand up for our troops yesterday.

Tens of thousands of anti-American leftists and their dupes marched on our nation's capital calling for America's defeat in the war on terror in Iraq.

Only about forty people could be bothered to turn out in support of America's victory in Iraq. Among those forty was a civilian POW held by the North Vietnamese communists and several Iraq war veterans--including wounded warriors who left the hospital to stand up for their brothers in arms on the home front.

Why did former POW Mike Benge and Iraq vet Joshua Sparling only find a few dozen people willing to stand with them? Why, as the anti-American left is heading toward repeating their victory in Vietnam, are so many people sitting on their asses and doing nothing to stop them?

Why, when Joshua Sparling was spat on, cursed at and threatened by 'peace marchers', were there so few people there to defend his honor?

Why was Jane Fonda allowed to desecrate the Navy Memorial and only face token opposition?

Why did Mike Benge see thousands more people showing up to cheer Jane Fonda than there were to denounce her?

Those who were there to support these patriots will be posting their observations and photos on this thread. I've said my piece.

Don't know about the buses. I do know buses were hired from CT that went as far as NJ, and trains were taken from there. All at the passengers expense. Who did all the organizing..........moveon, soros and all their ilk and sub committees. As for Conservatives in the NE, many would have done the same, but not enough could get the weekend off, as a LOT of people up here work 2nd or 3rd shifts, weekends included. Some of the ones going on the anti war buses are serious communists, and too many people would not want to risk the whole trip with these people.

The only other reasons I heard, were, being winter, they couldn't risk not being able to get home for work on Monday, since the weather in this area is so unpredictable.

Thanks, Dolly, but I'm not worried about being "worthy." I'm worried about saving our country from the disaster I see us rushing into, headlong and downhill.

Maybe all the keyboard cowboys are right. We should just ignore them - that way the media will ignore them, too.

hahahahaha.

Oh wait. They weren't joking. They really think if we ignore them they will go away, just like they did during Vietnam.

We see how well it worked back then.

God Help us.

Good question, but the beginning of the answer is very simple: GET OFF OUR BUTTS.

From another thread about desecrating the nations Capitol...

"Excuse me while I chuckle at all of the outrage on this thread. NONE OF YOU WERE THERE WITH US YESTERDAY WHEN THESE LEFTIES MARCHED ON THE CAPITOL. Why should the Capitol Police put their necks on the line when so few people bother to show up in support of America. There were tens of thousands of lefties against forty of us--including wounded warriors who left their hospital beds to support their country yet again. WHERE WERE YOU?"

And now frowns more on this thread because folks did not show up to counter a leftist rally. Call me what you want.

I know Kristinn has done more organizing than anyone else. Kudos for this. But don't use the fact that soldiers were spit on, to inflict guilt in people for not attending. I respect any man in uniform, but the soldiers should not have been there. Has the Vietnam days taught us NOTHING!!?? Do you think that this is going to make the morning papers??

All this did was piss a few people off, humiliated a few others, and created happiness among the left. Why the hell do you folks give the enemy bullets, and then piss and moan when you get shot at?

1. It's called the First Amendment.
2. We don't give a damn about their little hissy fits.
3. Stage a rally specifically for the troops or the flag and you'll see a better turnout.

I admire the people (I'm one of them) who get out there and do something, and yes, anyone within driving distance who could have attended should have been there. Inflicting guilt is perfectly appropriate.

So please sign up for one and attend it.

Thank you very much for the suggestion but I did protest all by myself when Al Gore and his daughter came to town. I didn't go tell the world what I did either. So mind your own business, please. You have NO IDEA what you are talking about.

I damn well have an excuse. I have businesses that need to be taken care of. If I don't do the work it doesn't get done. It's not like I can tell 'my boss' that I'm leaving for a couple of days or a couple of hours.

We are all guilty of not doing enough. One unattended rally is not enough to lay out the guilt trip. I'm sorry it was not attended, but can we get in the game here instead?

What is a good way to go here? I don't see anyone doing the big time organizing or rallying to beat these well organized idiots......

Any real ideas on what to do?

But you have neither been clear in any of your statements nor specific. You can't answer any questions. So, here's another one for you to not answer or be vague or dishonest about...

What is your purpose for being on this website?

No flaming here because you are correct.

We need to some how get conservatives off their back sides. Sure family and work is important, but the ideals of America are more important.

Better and wider dissemination of info through by blogs would help. The libs are now plotting to take away our voice by limiting blogs and talk radio.

We can't keep doing things as volunteers. We need some deep pocket conservatives to counter Soros, Kennedy, etc. money at these events. A paid organizer goes with some funding.

Kristinn is stretched thin with all he does for FR. He puts out news bulletins, writes threads on FReeps and Rallies etc.

[Mrs] T's and my pockets are too shallow to even try to better organize our rallies and we are not experienced enough.

We know the MSM won't air our activities, though I'm surprised how much they did do this time. Kristinn even got some air time.

"Honest question....what can we do?"

I know up here in the liberal NE, getting the word out, organizing, anything not ant war leftists, is next to impossible. Word of mouth for our side is slow, heck we don't even get party affiliation on the ballot most of the time. Most folks up here do not mention their conservatism at work, if they need a paycheck. Even some of the churches up here are leftist. Doesn't make organizing things anywhere near as easy as it would be for leftists and their organizations.

Also, I know a lot of people who were there not long ago for the March for Life rally, and people here are not rich, so that they can just go back down again. I understand the need to light a fire under us, but many of us just can't be there.

The left was always good at putting bodies in the street.

Yep! They have managed to put 1052 bodies of our troops in the streets of Iraq since Murtha's "Bring the Troops Home Now!" campaign began in earnest on November 18, 2005. In 14 months they have been responsible for more a third of our casualties. It took the terrorists 31 months to kill 2028.

All I do know is the average joe doesn't know what's been going on

Your homepage says you're gone, so ..... ? You're still posting....?

I respect our wounded troops and I believe they are mature adults who can make their own choices as to what they do or do not do. I saw a photo of Joshua Sparling at the event, relaxed and smiling. It did not look like anyone had forced him to be there.

Personally, it has been way too long since I was part of a troop rally and I plan to remedy that this year, although I do support them other ways, mainly with mail.

Would you like to share your troop support with the rest of us?

Uh, excuse me, but I've done a great deal. Obviously, many other FReepers have, too. The value of my opinion depends on whether it's true, not on what I've done. But don't try to say I'm an armchair general or a typewriter hawk. I'm a warrior, and whether you're a warrior or not, you're talking like a wuss, and I'm calling you on it. Whatever you've done, you should not be making excuses for the many lazy and timid "conservatives" who hide behind their "jobs" and their "families" and do nothing.

Marry WCW with ANSWER, MoveOn.org, Code Pink, Women in Black etc and you have a deadly (not just dangerous) movement. People need to educate themselves about the agenda of these organizations and who funds them. ANSWER sells the "World Workers Party" newspapers at their events, and you can bet they were selling them their, in addition to all the other communist buttons, t-shirts, tote bags, etc.

Those in liberal areas need to understand two things: One, your life won't end if liberal assholes in your community, or even at work, look down on you. Nor will your job end in most cases. Two, men are dying in Iraq. The least we can do is make our own lives a little less comfortable.

Yes we do, but Joe never gets involved in organizing rallies LOL and not much of the news regarding him EVER makes it into the media, unless he dares to vote or even exhibit anything the media sees as remotely Republican friendly!

We do have Howie Carr, maybe he could be used up here to get the word out if buses or trains are available and their cost. Heck Hannity does it for his freedom concerts every summer.
