Wounded Iraq Vet Threatened, Spat on by 'Antiwar' Protesters (D.C. Chapter Report on 1/27/07)
Sunday, January 28, 2007 | Kristinn

Posted on 01/28/2007 5:37:22 PM PST by kristinn

I'm angry. I'm angry at the 'antiwar' protesters who heaped abuse on our troops. And I'm angry at the people who couldn't be bothered to stand up for our troops yesterday.

Tens of thousands of anti-American leftists and their dupes marched on our nation's capital calling for America's defeat in the war on terror in Iraq.

Only about forty people could be bothered to turn out in support of America's victory in Iraq. Among those forty was a civilian POW held by the North Vietnamese communists and several Iraq war veterans--including wounded warriors who left the hospital to stand up for their brothers in arms on the home front.

Why did former POW Mike Benge and Iraq vet Joshua Sparling only find a few dozen people willing to stand with them? Why, as the anti-American left is heading toward repeating their victory in Vietnam, are so many people sitting on their asses and doing nothing to stop them?

Why, when Joshua Sparling was spat on, cursed at and threatened by 'peace marchers', were there so few people there to defend his honor?

Why was Jane Fonda allowed to desecrate the Navy Memorial and only face token opposition?

Why did Mike Benge see thousands more people showing up to cheer Jane Fonda than there were to denounce her?

Those who were there to support these patriots will be posting their observations and photos on this thread. I've said my piece.

Besides I'd end up in jail. I don't think I could resist punching a few of them out just for GP

I managed to make it through the day without getting locked up. :-)

I found the best way to deal with the people leaning over the fence screaming profanity was just to shake my head and laugh. Which made them shriek harder. I'm pretty sure one or two of them popped a blood vessel.

It was reported that hundred of buses brought most of these people there. Who is paying for all that and how do all those people get time off to go?

Yep. Stacks and stacks of them, just being handed out to whoever walked by.

Now is a dark day in the history of the Republic, good men did not stand up for the cause. It seems that we have forgotten our roots.(FR roots)

I hope you gave them hell!

Bused and horded college kids on sightseeing tours organized by the leftist propaganda machine. I'm sure they gave out preprinted anti-war posters like lollipops.

I didn't know about it. Sorry. What do people think of organizing a demonstration to support our President and our efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan and Somalia? Maybe for this spring?

It's called the First Amendment.

In my world it would get your @ss kicked sideways!

I'm sorry I wasn't there. I am in Montana so it's a bit far. If there is ever one of these in Helena or Great Falls I will be bringing Mrs Bear for the "Party."

And to the best of my knowledge, the moonbats sell the posters. In Olney in September, 2005, they were selling homemade, hand scratched posters for $5.

Maybe we should do that at our Support the Troop Rallys. We wouldn't make much since too many of our people find excuses for not coming to Rallys

I apologize for ranting to you.

Why...

Well, there was a car show in DC.

Macy's had a sale.

Oh, and the National Review was having some kind of shindig at the JW Marriott, where for an investment of only a few hundred dollars, people were able to rub elbows with conservative celebs.

And the Metro would have been crowded.

And traffic would be a mess.

And it was cold.

And if we ignore them, they will go away.

We'd be screwed if our soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines had the same attitude. "Oh geez! It's too cold outside! Well, I'm stayin' in, then."

1,764 registered Freepers flying a DC, MD or VA flag. 40 showed up, and of that number, 1 drove down from NJ, one from Philadelphia, two from NC.

What angers me most is that nearly a dozen of our 40-odd group were members of the military - and most of them were wounded soldiers from Walter Reed. Not only did they volunteer to defend us from enemies overseas, but now, after suffering life-changing injuries, they had to come and defend themselves against the idiot leftists, because everybody else was too wrapped up in their own lives to even give a second thought to defending our troops.

That's very sad.

I usually try to stay away from trouble, but DC is too far for me. If it were closer to home I may have attended and kept a low profile.

Kudos to those who attended.

Isn't Joshua Sparling the soldier who received that damnable card while he was at Walter Reed?

I don't understand why the college Republicans are not more organized...low cost bus trips and all. It's a nice incentive and all you have to do is hold a lousy sign.

Please keep an eye on Activism/Chapters in the side bar. There were several threads on this event, and a Support the Troop Rally on the Mall this past September. Only about 100 people showed up in September.
