Wounded Iraq Vet Threatened, Spat on by 'Antiwar' Protesters (D.C. Chapter Report on 1/27/07)
Sunday, January 28, 2007 | Kristinn

Posted on 01/28/2007 5:37:22 PM PST by kristinn

I'm angry. I'm angry at the 'antiwar' protesters who heaped abuse on our troops. And I'm angry at the people who couldn't be bothered to stand up for our troops yesterday.

Tens of thousands of anti-American leftists and their dupes marched on our nation's capital calling for America's defeat in the war on terror in Iraq.

Only about forty people could be bothered to turn out in support of America's victory in Iraq. Among those forty was a civilian POW held by the North Vietnamese communists and several Iraq war veterans--including wounded warriors who left the hospital to stand up for their brothers in arms on the home front.

Why did former POW Mike Benge and Iraq vet Joshua Sparling only find a few dozen people willing to stand with them? Why, as the anti-American left is heading toward repeating their victory in Vietnam, are so many people sitting on their asses and doing nothing to stop them?

Why, when Joshua Sparling was spat on, cursed at and threatened by 'peace marchers', were there so few people there to defend his honor?

Why was Jane Fonda allowed to desecrate the Navy Memorial and only face token opposition?

Why did Mike Benge see thousands more people showing up to cheer Jane Fonda than there were to denounce her?

Those who were there to support these patriots will be posting their observations and photos on this thread. I've said my piece.

After this weekends protest, I had to stop lurking and finally become a member. I have never seen so much hate and anger as I saw this weekend. I was probably given the finger a thousand times.

Could someone please post the picture of Josh Sparling that was printed in Sunday's edition of the Washington Post (page A8). Maybe I'm being over sensitive, but I believe the picture misrepresents Josh, and makes him appear to be part of the anti-war demonstration. I've voiced my opinion with three staff of the Post, and would like others to do the same.

Its a shame that only 40 of us took the time to let our voices be heard. I left the demonstration demoralized and frustrated by the number of moonbats, the lack of participants on our side, the ability of the moonbats to organize, the hate and anger exhibited by the moonbats, and the direction in which I see this nation headed (including Republicans who are more worried about their political self-preservation and what the media will say about them, instead of fighting for conservative values and protecting this nation).

The photograph of Josh in the Post rejuvenated my spirit and willingness to continue the fight. I will never again sit idly by. No longer will I sit at work, home, or the bar and complain about the direction of this nation, if I have not had the courage to be involved. It is far easier to have an excuse than to stand and fight. We all owe that much to guys like Josh.

The moonbats are offended if you call them un-patriotic. However, they claim to have had a hundred thousand protesters, but I bet I didnt see more than a two dozen american flags (with the exception of those hanging upside down or with peace symbols in the place of the stars).

I know im only 16 years old, and dont have much experience in this world. But i am an American, and im proud to be one. And NOTHING pisses me off more then when i see all these liberals and anti-war protesters spewing lies about how this war is "illegal" and "wrong". Unfortuanetly, kids my age belive everything they hear on the liberal run media. Only a handfull of others at my school and myself still support this war. I even have a friend that buys into this "9-11 Conspiracy" crap. What can be done to set the youth straight? To let them know that if we abandon our persuit, all is lost. This radical liberal movement can be our countrys demise.

Welcome to FRee Republic!!

For those who don't know, Olney-Keith is a regular at the Walter Reed FReeps and was there Saturday.

And if the "Olney" sounds familiar, he's a home boy from the Olney, MD FReeps. He stopped by one Saturday FReep, discovered FR and it was all up hill from there.

I have to wonder if all the conservative organizations out there made a true concerted effort to have a huge rally in DC or elsewhere, could we not turn out millions potentially?

Not unless Rush held another Bake Sale.

"Low profile? We're conservatives. On the premit maps, we're marked, "No Tear Gas Zones" because we don't cause problems we don't vandelize property like the left wing wackos.

"It's only the left for whom "Protest = Arrest" because that's the way they want it. They will provoke and provoke and provoke until arrested, or the Democrat leadership gives them permission to break stuff. The left wing sense of self is so self loathing that they have to been seen doing good, so that why they craave being arrested. Some sick sense of visibility for their own ego gratification.

Well, I don't like to get into trouble by provoking others, like the leftists do, and get arrested. So, like a good conservative, whenever I attend a protest, I stay in the background and keep a low profile. And, I've attended some.

So, I'm glad we're in agreement. We conservatives are not like the brainwashed anti-American leftists who crave to get arrested.

I bet Sean Hannity would be more than happy to promote it and be the key speaker.

You should propose it to him. Good luck.

I've got unlimited long distance, so calling these cretins is no big deal. It gives me a certain amount of pleasure to annoy their staffers. I believe that it is important that they hear from the other side...often. They get in their little liberal boxes and don't know that we disagree with them, unless we make ourselves known.

If they should ask you where you are from, here's my reply. We are ALL constituents as citizens. Therefore, unless the Congressman or Senator would like to stop making decisions on national and international policy they can treat ALL of us with the same amount of respect. Additionally, since we are connected by phone and internet we can affect election. We can make calls and donations for the challenger.

We have to put aside what "feels good" and make the calls, get out in the streets, work elections, etc. No more silent majority. No more kid gloves. There is a breech, and we must go once more into it!

From what I see at Blackfive the responders also want to organize a rally in support of the troops. Any way we can get our heads together?

Bring your children with you, let them see the democratic process in action!

For positive rallies (like Walter Reed, etc) YES. For counter-protests against death-cult moonbats? Not again.

I will leave the kids behind for future events where the belligerent left can be expected to spew its vitriol.

In a way I am happy to be in a location where my wife is safe from these freaks. On the other hand I wish I could support the counter protests.

We have liberals here but nothing like what I have seen in the protest stories. I think gun ownership keeps things civil ;-)

That is wonderful, however, the point of my post was that the Moonbats don't have "other things" to do. They seem to put all else aside in favor of bashing everything we hold dear. I appreciate everything that dirtboy has done. I just feel that it is too easy to fall into the "other things to do" mentality. As a veteran of the Moonbat Wars, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.
