Wounded Iraq Vet Threatened, Spat on by 'Antiwar' Protesters (D.C. Chapter Report on 1/27/07)
Sunday, January 28, 2007 | Kristinn

Posted on 01/28/2007 5:37:22 PM PST by kristinn

I'm angry. I'm angry at the 'antiwar' protesters who heaped abuse on our troops. And I'm angry at the people who couldn't be bothered to stand up for our troops yesterday.

Tens of thousands of anti-American leftists and their dupes marched on our nation's capital calling for America's defeat in the war on terror in Iraq.

Only about forty people could be bothered to turn out in support of America's victory in Iraq. Among those forty was a civilian POW held by the North Vietnamese communists and several Iraq war veterans--including wounded warriors who left the hospital to stand up for their brothers in arms on the home front.

Why did former POW Mike Benge and Iraq vet Joshua Sparling only find a few dozen people willing to stand with them? Why, as the anti-American left is heading toward repeating their victory in Vietnam, are so many people sitting on their asses and doing nothing to stop them?

Why, when Joshua Sparling was spat on, cursed at and threatened by 'peace marchers', were there so few people there to defend his honor?

Why was Jane Fonda allowed to desecrate the Navy Memorial and only face token opposition?

Why did Mike Benge see thousands more people showing up to cheer Jane Fonda than there were to denounce her?

Those who were there to support these patriots will be posting their observations and photos on this thread. I've said my piece.

I am sitting here almost in tears after reading your posting. I wish I could be there to hug you and cry with you. You and your husband are the reason we show up at these moonbat rallies. We street Freepers will probably never change the mind of a moonbat but we want our servicemembers and their families to know that there IS support for them. Standing on a street corner with a "pro troops" sign is the very insignificant least I can do to honor those who protect our freedom. Your post needs to be read by ever Freeper who says "don't counter protest". And by every Congressman, Senator, civil servant, news anchor and journalism major. I know I can't begin to comprehend the depths of your fear. But I'm asking Jesus to give you the strength to deal with this. God bless you, your husband and every servicemember who has ever donned the uniform.

TroopRally:

I'm sorry, my post #537 was supposed to be to reply to you.

And I mean no sarcasm with my thanks. I am truly grateful to all those that attend.

I am also sorry to all about the huge vent. I really needed to get that out. It's been sitting inside for quite some time. God bless our wounded veterans. When I get back to the East Coast, I will be at every single FReeper event that I can get to.

"I write this today because I don't know where else to put it."

Put it with us. We are here with you, and with your husband. Frustrated, angry and a little frightened, but determined none the less. Our daughter is getting quite a different kind of education during this, her freshman year in college. She has been taken aback by the absolute intolerance of the left, and even more so, by the visceral hatred they cannot keep hidden. I tell her, and you, that she is not alone.

Unfortunately, those of us who are truely aware, have always been outnumbered by those who choose to exist in their own inwardly focused world. Those who are so certain that they understand ideas that the rest of us are simply incapable of grasping, are difficult to reach, but we cannot stop trying. Just as it was with our founding fathers, we are here to continue to speak for freedom and reason and right, and to teach by example.

They may have the media, but they do not have all of us fooled or cowed, and never will.

Thank you, and your husband and your family.

Did you and everyone else hear Josh's father say that Josh is in bad financial shape???

I cannot find the words I want to type right at this moment. I am filled with loathing for those who have made your burden heavier than it already is. And I am ashamed that I haven't been vocal enough in support for you and your husband. I am making a promise to you right now, that will change.

Our daughter served a tour in Ramadi last year. It was one of the most difficult years of our life. And she has expressed what you say, the soldier has the double burden of fighting the war and worrying about the family at home.

Please know we Freepers will be here, day or night for you should you need to talk. My prayers are with you to remain strong and with your husband for his safe return. Please thank your husband for us for what he does for this great country.

God Speed.

I am more determined than ever to work at organizing a rally in support of our troops. We are up against a lot -- we don't have a Soros to fund it and unfortunately, we don't have enough people who seem to be on fire and care enough to take time from their lives to show up.

Passiveness -- it makes me very angry. We get a lot of lip service, but when the bodies are needed, everybody is too busy enjoying their freedoms and can't be bothered to show support for those who protect those freedoms.

God bless you! I'm so angry, too! I'm too far from D.C. to have been able to attend, but I'm thinking seriously of organizing a rally here to support our troops. Maybe, at least, for all of us who can't make it to D.C., we could do something in our hometowns or state capitols to support our troops in answer to the "massive" hot air flatulence that went on in Washington.

Right down to the "Make Love, Not War" signs. Geez, you'd think they could at least get some new slogans!

Might I suggest "Make more condoms, not more Liberals"

Did he expect anything different? Spitting is the height of these people's intellectual capacity and they hate the troops and anyone who supports America.

I know I sound like a broken record, but if we lived closer to DC you know we would have been there with you. THANK YOU all for being out there on Saturday, standing firm for our troops and for America against the hordes of uninformed, brainwashed and unwashed moonbats.

God bless all of you, including heroes Mike Benge and Joshua Sparling.

But you two were at last September's Support the Troop Rally that a lot of FReepers seemed to have missed. And NOW they say that they would come to such a Rally.

Thank you and Zelig for being there last September.

Hey you others, keep watching the Activism/Chapter sidebar section. There are FReeps all over the Country that need help. I read about too many one or two FReeper FReeps.

All the D.C. Chapter asks of others if they can just once in a while give up the unnecessary things for one day and help protect our troops' back.

Hey kristinn. As you know, have a lot of irons in the fire over here. We will try to make the trip on March 17 however. I might even bring along a few of the in-laws. They're real scrappers.

One other thing, kristinn: that "anti-war" crowd has co-opted a lot of other splinter groups, such as the pro-Palestinian crowd and the "Free Mumia" crowd. Mix in Jesse Jackson's Rent-a-Riot convoy of 20-year-old school buses, and you can see how they can get 20,000 people out of a nation of 300 million.

These are the same people who convinced the homeless to vote for John Kerry, by bribing them with a bottle of Mad Dog or a carton of cigarettes. In our group, at least we can be sure that our people are there because they truly believe in what they're doing.

The few. The proud. The Freepers.

Don't underestimate the power of a one-Freeper Freep. A couple of years ago, I was walking south on Michigan Avenue in Chicago and I saw about three or four of the pro-Palestinian left-wing college types doing their thing at the NE corner of Michigan and Wacker, with a Palestinian flag and a megaphone.

Timing is everything. I showed up just as the batteries in their megaphone were giving out.

I walked past them, got halfway across Wacker Drive to the median and turned around. I yelled, "When the 'noble Palestinian people' stop MURDERING women and children, then you'll have peace."

This started a shouting match. I stayed on the media, they stayed on the corner.

Little did I know that behind me was a gathering crowd of Jewish high school kids and their parents. Yes, the Jewish people have parochial schools just like Catholics. All it takes is one loud, confident voice that's just FED UP, and others will follow.

You are right about one FReeper FReeps, they can attract attention and get the moonbats upset. I love raining on the moonbats' parade.

I read your "About" page and Thanks for all you do for FR.
