Buffalo, NY (WBEN) - State Sen. Antoine Thompson (D-Buffalo) has joined the grass-roots effort launched by an activist who shares his surname, and is now supporting removal of the tolls on the I-190 at the Grand Island Bridges.
The drive, started by contractor Rus Thompson, is growing, with the Sen. Thompson agreeing to hold a public hearing on the issue.
The hearings could pressure the Thruway authority to change their policy on keeping the tolls, Rus Thompson says.
Then to top off the day we rec'd a letter from the NY State thruway authority claiming that they need the tolls, blah, blah, blah.. I have been calling media and emailing all 5500 people that signed the petition to see if they got the same letter.

If they think this will stop me they are sadly mistaken, stuff like this just furthers my resolve to fight on even harder.. Must be the Army coming out in me.. I was a good NCO..

That is just great that you have an advocate in the State Senate...even though a Democrat! This will give you more exposure so when you run next time, you will have a more recognizable name.
Plus, the issue that you are advocating is a legitimate concern and I can see where the people must have a say in this.

So far Senator Thompson is the only representative in this district to come out in support of the petition drive. The others are trying to shut us down...
