And why shouldn't the suicide bombers continue their attacks? After all, what are the repercussions every time it happens? Basically, nothing.
A suicide attack on a bakery, a pizza joint, a dance club, etc. cannot have any impact on Israel's ability to fight back. Nor, it is clear, will it cause Israelis to cower in their homes, let alone emigrate.

Unless the people planning and provoking these attacks are profoundly stupid (an assumption that cannot be made), it must be assumed that their intent is to provoke general anger and distrust among the Israeli population.

The fact that the more zealous portions of said population are rarely the specific targets of such attacks also supports this proposition.

Clearly, Israeli reactions against Palestinians-in-general also increase anger and distrust among same.

Both serve the purpose of undermining the peace process.

Which is exactly what these animals want.

Shimon Peres had it right: "Fight terror as if there were no peace, seek peace as if their were no terror".

What, then, is the objective of suicide bombings?

Simply to kill Jews? Why don't they disproportionately attack the devout and observant?

To chase Jews out of the country? That's clearly not working?

To terrify the Israeli population? That's not working either.

What they are doing is ANGERING the Israeli (and American) populations. If they are trying to destroy Israel, that's counterproductive.

We can't assume they are stupid.

This was only a matter of time after Olmert and his left party starting opening up checkpoints for "humanitarian" reasons.

Hey Olmert, no need for humanitarianism when dealing with animals.

Then we'd see the leaders of Hamas/IJ participating. They are not. They get young and ignorant martyr-wannabes to wear bombs.

The objectives of the leadership are different. It should be clear to anyone sane that suicide bombers cannot and will not destroy the Nation of Israel.

However, a general war can. And these kind of attacks, if the anger over them is misdirected, can provoke a general war.

Yeah, well the Al Qaeda bigs don't want to be "martyrs" either.

Hamas and also the "moderates" Fatah have stated REPEATEDLY that their objective is to destroy Israel, and suicide bombing is only one weapon in their arsenal. Have you ever read the Hamas Charter? Why don't you acquaint yourself with it before posting your usual clueless dreck?

Hamas defends suicide bombing as "legitimate" response against Israel

Here we go. Iran does this when they need to spotlight moved. they figure Israel will retaliate and then the world can get busy hating Israel.

1. Suicide bomb in Israel.
2. The media condemns Israel's response.
3. Profit.

Smash them.

Suicide bombers weaken will, paralyze trade and cause overreaching responses. They force Israel to be an aggressor even if she's defending herself because the media never focuses on the first punch. This gives the rest of the ME a convenient focal point for their irrational hate. The real troublemakers behind this get breathing room as the witless and compliant press run off the report on retaliatory missile strikes and the such. Iran can play this game for years or at least long enough to get built what they need to blackmail us.

Knowing their BS strategies will never end I predict Bush is going to make a speech and attack them. They say don't you dare or we'll unleash the agents of terror. If we are the victim but once by their asymmetric answer to our standing army, they are finished. Their answer is supposed to be attacks on business and civilian interests in the USA and abroad. They advertise that they'll target civilians when the war starts. That's not going to go over well with us.

"As frightening as terrorism is, it's the weapon of losers. When someone detonates a suicide bomb, that person does not have career prospects.

And no matter how horrific the terrorist attack, it's conducted by losers. Winners don't need to hijack airplanes. Winners have an air force."

"We can't assume they are stupid."

Anyone who buys the 72 virgin-free trip to 'paradise' spoon fed jihadist rubbish if he self-detonates in the middle of innocent victims, we should assume they are indeed stupid for believing a Big Lie.

They must be stupid. They keep provoking a national entity that literally could wipe them entirely out.

Also, keep in mind that the folks claiming responsibility are the al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades. They're part of Abbas' Fatah faction, in other words, they're a sanctioned Palestinian entity.

In a rational world, this would be an act of war. The response would be an ultimatum, followed by the destruction of the Palestinian people when their "government" defied it.
