Oh, I agree that their vote would be counted in the popular total, but when your vote is effectively nullified by the illegal voters alone, it becomes a "whatever they want" situation, as is the case here.

Sounded like a subjective answer to me, where "our" is inclusive of oneself.

But Oregon's status could change under a pending bill in the Legislature that would award the state's seven electoral votes to the candidate who wins the popular vote nationally, regardless of who wins the state.

This is completely illegal.

Here's an idea: In Republican-led states, send up some legislation that -- whoever wins the state vote -- the electoral votes go to the most popular Republican.

Makes as much sense as this legislation.

The electoral college and the means of its implementation have served us well since the founding fathers put it in place. It was chosen in this manner for a reason and individual states chosing a different method sounds un-constitutional.
Nothing good can come of this ill conceived movement by liberals.

You left out the "Nice to ponder"...as in, "it's the right thing to do but"...it will never happen because the rest of the people (i.e. the vast majority that does not include me) don't care enough to go through the hardship required. We are soft as a nation.

My point is, the Red States are MAJORITY not soft; it's the Blue States (especially the really solidly-Blue States like Kalifornia, New York, and those with inner-city dependent-on-gubmint handouts places) that are "soft" on self-determinance, and HARD on keeping entitlements flowing.

That's why the major push for gun control: disarm the populace, to avoid the civilian resistance.

At some not-too-distant point, I believe it may come to actually finding out how many value their freedom enough to fight for it. We know the leftists (about nearly 1/2 the voting population, at least), wouldn't fight their way out of a wet paper bag, but would lite candles and sing Kumbaya....

The Constitution is explicit that the election MUST be held on a single day.

The act of voting must occur on one day, but counting the votes and assigning the electors accordingly can take much longer, all the way up to the day the electors deliver their votes in person in Washington DC.

No, "assigning the Electors" does not take time. See the history of the election of 1888. Congress can decide, as it did then, that certain Electors were wrongly chosen, and accept others. But no one has the power to change the already-cast vote of a single Elector.

This attempt to change the Constitution without amending it, is a fraud, plain and simple.

This would be idiotic; that basically means all of the state's voters are slaves to what the rest of the nation thinks. Their votes count for nothing compared to the rest of the nation.

I guess idiotic ideas are part and parcel of the Democrat party nowadays, so that pretty much explains the reasoning.

If the legislatures of a majority of states are dumb enough to go for this gimmick, the Supreme Court will slap it down.
