As an old catcher, I'd like to see Schilling throw a few at kerry.

Our signal was One finger, then pull on my earlobe.

I love the hell out of Curt, but I think he ought to choose between MLB and politics. Or rather, he should have chosen...it looks like he's gone so far, there's no turning back.

Air America sold to Stephen Green. Sucker!! And the molasses-dripped voice (that term comes from an AAR
listener, believe it or not, posting on a messageboard)
of Al Franken will soon leave.

I guess nobody had Fr. Robert Drinan, or Barbaro in the death pool.

Could you summarize it for those of us who missed Feinberg and whose dial-ups can't or won't handle listening over the computer? Pretty please? :-)

“When we walk away from global warming, Kyoto, when we are irresponsibly slow in moving toward AIDS in Africa, when we don’t advance and live up to our own rhetoric and standards, we set a terrible message of duplicity and hypocrisy.
So we have a crisis of confidence in the Middle East — in the world, really. I’ve never seen our country as isolated, as much as a sort of international pariah for a number of reasons as it is today.”…

Distancing himself from "Americans"!

OK, let me hear it back (file on my own comp.) to give an
accurate description...

Schilling:
"I need to figure out my own platform (first)...excited about McCain (backing him for Pres.)"

Feinberg: "One of these senator-for-life types, Kerry,
is up for re-election. What has he DONE? Yet we still vote for him...because nobody else substantial is running. Maybe
someone famous, like Schilling...We're learning today he's
not ready to call it quits yet."

Schilling: "Family decision more than just me. Shonda and the kids want me to keep playing." He says the older kids he has actually tag along with him on the road.

Schilling said that even at 40, physically he still feels
healthy. That was not the reason he was going to retire.

Schilling: "I look at my baseball career as a blessing
and everything I can get out of baseball is a blessing.
Some people out there feel I should go into politics..."

Feinburg: "your outside activities, like the fundraising, Curt's Pitch for ALS, and your endorsement of Pres.
Bush..."

Schilling says maybe he'll look at something like
politics--in the future, though

Thanks! (I wish the news were more encouraging though. We really need someone with name recognition to put up against Kerry. I really suspect a lot of people just vote for a familiar name.)

Schilling: "It's sad that we've gotten to the point where
people are pulling the lever for the candidate they
_dislike the least_. I know I got criticized for endorsing
W a couple years back..."

He says he doesn't agree with every single issue certain
candidates support, but he does like McCain and he's a huge fan (note: He used to play for Arizona so got to see McCain
up close you may say)

Feinburg: "McCain is one of these guys who says you may not agree with me on every issue but this is where I stand"
Schilling agrees and says that W is the same type of guy.
Schilling says he thought W put together a good "team"
of policy-makers and that's why he supported him in '04.

. . . we set a terrible message of duplicity and hypocrisy.

Well, who's more of an expert on duplicity and hypocrisy than John F'n Kerry? ;-)

No problem...the interview finished with Curt saying things like he still needs to work out what his positions are, exactly; for example he says he's pro-life but he also
feels people should make their own decisions on the issue...

Feinburg said that the poll on whether or not Curt should run was 96 per cent in favor at first (local people) but when the story ran nationally, esp. in liberal blogs like Huffington Post, people stormed the poll and now it's more like 50-50.
The poll is on wrko.com

If Shilling's pro-life, I'll vote for him in a heartbeat.

OK, he's a professional athlete, but still... How do you reach age 40 believing that "I'm personally opposed to murder, but people should make their own decisions on the issue"?

The unexamined life isn't worth living.
