So the message is: raise taxes!
To: Incorrigible
So this guy really thinks that the reason businesses are fleeing Michigan is because its taxes are too low?

Michigan must decide if it wants an extreme makeover Since it's the Moo Slime capital of America, I guess it already has.

No such thing as 'free drugs'/prescriptions. . .when will they learn. Bite the hand. . .watch it disappear. If the 'hand' feeds too many; it disappears as well. Or the goods become even more expensive; because 'somebody' has to pay here.

"...work-force development is widely seen as the most critical step to securing its economic future?"
Does this mean we will be basing our economy on training people for jobs in other states?

"And it's not going to stop. What's going on is economic change wrought by global-scale corporate decision-making."
Horses--t! The over regulation of all business in Michigan by the environmentalist, socialist (liberals), i.e. no smoking in private businesses, must be green, small business tax at 100% of all income, and all the while Socialist Governor Granholm was handing out millions in our tax dollars to her socialist "cool cities!"
While Granholm hands out millions to her green "cool cities" business is running from Michigan in droves: Georgia Pacific, just left our area and took 210 jobs with them. They claimed they cannot operate their business in such a "hostile" environment!
US unemployment is at approx. 4%
Michigan's is now at 7.1% unemployment and climbing.
AFL-CIO and the NEA are demanding socialist Granholm raise all taxes in the State. That should be the nail in the coffin of this liberal State. Any wonder socialist Granholm never mentioned these dire problems within the State BEFORE she was reelected! Everyone wanted the first State Governor, well now they have her, and I hope they will love the tax increase she will push upon the residents of the State of Michigan.

Brain drain in action. States that were seeing too much of it dropped taxes and brought the businesses to them, works real well too.

Notice the author views tax cuts in terms of what they cost the state rather than tax hikes in terms of what they cost the people.
The problem is that the basis of Michigan's economy (big government, big union, big corporation, big pension) is no longer viable today.
Perhaps eliminating mandatory union membership...
