Sue the city, they're the ones that went overboard.

$700,000 is the easy part. Turner starts hitting a bumpy road once several hundred thousand people file a class action lawsuit for all the aggravation associated with this thing -- and Turner faces the possibility of paying out a 9-figure settlement.

It was not the Little People trapped on the T or Route 93 that overreacted, nor was it halted commercial trucking, etc..

The city costs were a trifling amount, losswise.

Let's see how cute Guerilla Marketing looks now.

This was, quite honestly, the funniest thing I'd seen on my television in years.

Was that thing giving the finger to folks all over Boston?

No. It was flipping the bird to everyone on Earth.

Justified, in my opinion.

So with all this hysteria, is there an actual law against stupid marketing ideas in Mass or Boston? Or, is doing something that the authorities over-react to a criminal offense all by itself?

It was a wonderful and good attempt at a new way of marketing. Sad and understandable the dumb-cluck reaction. An area (New England) on short on common sense, as recent homosexual marriage idiocy indicates.

Note to Boston: That wasn't enough reason to pull the darn things down??

Lovely city ya got there, Mumbles.

Mayor Menino said the hoax cost the state and cities about $750,000. He wants Turner Broadcasting to pay for it all.

A thug mayor comes begging.

Agreed ATHF is awesome, Especially the superbowl one.

Also all this guff about prosecutions is just stupid, an entire PD wailing and flapping it's arms cos they were made to look like jerks.

I think someone already said it, but I were gonna bomb a bridge, i wouldn;t cover it in flashing lights.

I can understand that a first single device can be mistaken as bomb but at what point doesn't someone say "stop"

"Mayor Menino said the hoax cost the state and cities about $750,000. He wants Turner Broadcasting to pay for it all."

There is/was no "hoax". It was a goofy marketing gimmick that was never meant to decieve or lead people to believe anything that wasn't so. These things were all over the country but only in Boston were they knee-jerk enough to assume they were bombs.

"The authorities panicked and now they want to 'do something' to cover themselves. There's no criminal intent here and probably no crime."

Just a whole bunch of stupid people.

You know I thought so at first. But then I thought it was just stupid... someone In the Turner Group wasn't thinking. Personally I would rather be safe then sorry. If they were going to pull a stunt like this why wouldn't they run it past the mayor or someone? Bombs can come in many packages. Why not a cute package?

Why shouldn't Turner pay for it? If they had gone through the proper channels then it would have been alright. I can see someone in Turner doesn't think very well or they did ...lots of news and publicity for their show. Doesn't seem to much to pay for all the air time they got. ....Bombs can come in many packages, I would rather be safe then sorry. Why should the state and city pay? Let Turner he has plenty of money. Sorry but I am not a Turner or Hanoi Jane fan here, his company, his stupid stunt...He needs to pay up.

Is it too late to round up Orson Welles and the cast of the Mercury Theater?
