I don't have flash backs wise ass. I was just going through some material of commonly used booby traps used by the VC. They liked toys.

Even so, you see a circuit board, wire and batteries hanging from a bridge span and you wouldn't be concerned? Then you are a dope.

So because most people have the common sense to not be an hysterical girl about this, they're dopes? LOL.

"Oh, look that man wearing the towel around his head and an explosive belt has a smiley face button on his suicide tunic...He must be a nice fellow doing Gorilla marketing! Maybe he would like to come home for dinner and meet my virgin daughter!"

Not EVEN close, buddy. And it was guerrilla marketing.

THIS is 'Gorilla' marketing.

That was pretty good. I'm surprised the news media didn't just walk away. They're about as intelligent as the cops in Boston.

These guys aren't 'Gen-Xers'. The Gen-X generation is now well into their 30s and early 40s.

That is the wonderful thing about this country, I totally disagree with you as well, in my case I pray that the Police and other security personnel, exercise whatever due diligence they feel will quarantee their safe return home.

It looks like a battery powered neon sign whan its shown close up with good lighting. When its hanging up on a bridge column in the day light all you can not see what oits supposed to be.
Again, he guy on the airplane had a bomb in his sneakers.

No it simply proves Boston is chock full of sub-maroons.

No one panicked in the other cities during the previous 3 weeks the sign were in use. Hmmmmm? Maybe Boston should import some of the millions of NYC certified munitions experts who recognized the devices in their city weren't bombs?

There was a movie made in Boston called Blown Away. The Boston Bomb Squad assisted as a technical adviser. The protagonist, an IRA guy set up his bombs throughout the city in similar situations. There were also two dummy pipe bombs found at the Longfellow Bridge and a hospital at the same time the BPD was dealing with the Lite-Brites.

"Then I'll incite bystanders to laugh them into so much shame the idiot seriously considers suicide."

That's the ticket! The most dangerous combination in America is authority and stupidity.

How would you be feeling today if you had been sitting in that traffic jam in Boston because these little pie-holes pulled this stupid stunt.

I would be rather upset. At the simplistic government officials that can't tell a Lite-Brite from a 'device'. Perhaps you haven't looked around of late (like the past 10 years) but advertising has to be catchy, curious, and a little different than the 'other guys'. Again, this 'stunt' had been done in multiple cities. And yet no problems in any other city. Just Boston.

It's 1969, you're on The Point of a patrol in Moc Hoa. You see a Yogi Bear Doll on the street. A familiar kid's toy. It's cute. Do you pick it up?

You're comparing a jungle war patrol booby trap to a lite-brite movie handbill?

Get a grip on yourself.

And change your panties, I think you wet 'em.

What the hell does a sneaker bomb have to do with a lite brite?

. . . because wearing Muslim attire and screaming "Allah Akbar!" is really the equivalent of placing homemade Lite Brites showing cartoon characters in open areas. Got it.

Next time you're in Manhattan, make it a point to visit the observation deck at the Empire State Building wearing a phony getup around your midsection that looks like a suicide belt...and be sure there are plenty of wires, etc.

There is a big difference... they weren't TRYING to make it look like a bomb. Geez, can you people who are desperately trying to make the terror connection not see that?

Only a moron would think that a terrorist is going to plant a bomb in something small that is meant to be conspicuous, and too high up to cause any casualties.

So anyone who is less than 100% able to recognize, at a glance, whether an item is benign or harmful is a moron? And anyone unable to instantly and accurately calculate potential casualties that might be caused by an unrecognized item is also a moron?

Would a moron be able to recognize guerrilla and viral marketing on an online discussion forum? You seem emotionally invested in painting this as an either/or situation where one party is to blame.

From my viewpoint, there's plenty of idiocy to go around. The marketing company was grossly irresponsible AND the law enforcement response AND media response was grossly out of whack. But then, that's just a moron's viewpoint because I'm not qualified to bet anyone's life on my ability to recognize the latest in IED technology or to calculate its efficacy at a glance.
