Man I would have tried to steal it.

Exactly.

And the Boston cops blew them up "as a precaution."

Good grief.

You honestly thought that was funny?

I thought it was brilliant. Brilliant.

The sensationalist Press, the hysterical State, and the paranoid Public all get skewered.

It's a trifecta.

No matter how paranoid you become, wise ass. No amount of exuberant prosecution is going to prevent the actual terrorist from concealing his bomb and placing it anyway, learn to accept the fact that you live in a dangerous world and over reaction causes us all more harm by criminalizing one more stupid thing in our life! You don't have a right to NEVER worry or be frightened, you just don't.

GADS! WTF is it with you folks?

I'm not familiar with the cartoon. Those who aren't familiar with the cartoon, like me, don't "get it." I also don't listen to Stern -- probably the same irreverant audience as this cartoon.

I could see how some might interpret that as a bomb, devised by someone wanting to ridicule America. Circuit board, batteries, etc....

We're not in 9/10 anymore. Face that fact.

Who the hell would ever worry about a litebrite?
I guess you are the smartest guy out there. Everyone should bow down to your Spock-Like intellect.
You can tell what objects are dangerous and which are not.

Maybe you and John Kerry can get together and have some mutual ego masterbation.

In Iraq our guys avoid patched potholes and "road repairs" because IED's have often been hidden there. So make sure next time you notice a patch on the interstate that you stop and call 911 cause we live in a post 9-11 world. K?

It was dangerous though, factoring in the reaction that was bound to come.

I agree. I bet these guys thought that if these things got a rise out of anybody it would be because the character has flipping the bird, not because somebody would take them for bombs. Boston and the media probably gave them more for their marketing dollar than they could have ever dreamed for.

People would think it was a promotional and maybe steal them? Stadiums are swept before games so if it were to happen they would be found before the fans were even allowed in.

We're not in 9/10 anymore.

Wait where are we? 7/11? Motel 6? How can you be in a date?

It is apparent quite a few 'conservatives' need to face the fact that marketing is changing. The Fuller Brush man isn't coming to your door calmly in a tie. The new marketing is in your face, it has to catch your eye. A study was released awhile back that stated the average person sees twice as many ads as he did 30 years ago. And because of that, you've got to catch the consumer's eye. It's the same idea as posting orange colored flyers. It's meant to catch your eye The market this was aimed at probably knew what it was. And probably would have looked for more information on it.

By your standard unless everyone knows what a product is and does, it shouldn't be marketed in public for fear of offending or scaring the other parts of the market. I don't know what half the crap is I see ads for. I've seen flashing signs, scrolling signs, even some signs in public that would give an epileptic seizures (very fast flashing bright lights). Some in expected places, some not. But damn my first thought is not to call the police and report a possible terrorist threat

I am not the one obliviously discussing hair styles while standing accused of disrupting an entire city.
Humanity is defined by reason and the ability to process reality. Guevara as hair-hero does not meet this criterion, and niether do these two slackers.

FYI....from your haven in NC this looks like a big laugh. But we here in Massachusetts are more than a bit skittish about such matters because 1)two of the four planes involved in 9/11 originated here and 2)largely as a result of point #1,Massachusetts,along with NY,NJ,CT and CA suffered the large majority of the casualties of 9/11.

They had other stuff like that planned. Among the stunts were: young men in "suicide vests on trains and buses, white powder being sent to people in the media and jets with the cartoon logo flying close to buildings.

Count me in as somebody who does not find this stunt funny, and does not think that the officials were idiots, I posted on a earlier thread about the Soviets in Afghanistan using booby traps designed to look like toys, this kind of stuff gives the terrorists ideas.

The idiots involved in this need some time in jail

Maybe you can help the police in the future. If they have a situation, they can call you and you can tell them if there is anything to worry about!
