he deserves respect from Republicans for the great job he's done for the party for decades.

A RINO is one who does not believe in Republican principles set down by Republicans in their platform, but still calls themself a Republican.

I would respect him more if so many of the freepers, who are proud to be freepers wouldn't be promoting him so much.

This site was created to promote support conservative ideas and support conservative candidates.

Dear RichardW,

"He's under no obligation to offer up any advantage to any of his competitors."

I can't see how it would offer any advantage to his competitors for him to note that he will run as a Republican, if he runs.

"He's doing the smart thing."

To me, he's only encouraging Republicans to doubt his commitment to the party and its values. It seems to me to be a very stupid thing to do.

"As I said somewhere, let the others pound each other and then he can come riding to the rescue without all of the mud that he would otherwise have."

What are you suggesting, that he sit out the primaries?

He's not going to get the nomination by coronation. He'll have to fight for it.

I doubt he'll get the nomination, anyway. He can't hold the Republican coalition together.

So, anyone who disagrees with your dictates as to what constitutes a Republican is a traitor/RINO. As I stated before, Rudy stood by the Republican Party in the face of unrelenting hostility from DemonRats in NYC. It's very easy to be a Conservative when you are in an area of the country where you are surrounded by fellow Conservatives. I am a Conservative in an area of the country where the Left reigns supreme. NYC is a cesspool of Leftist insanity. Rudy did what he had to do to get the things he wanted done. He certainly was not a fake Republican like Bloomberg. Rudy got tremendous support from Staten Island Conservatives while he was Mayor. We helped to get him elected and re-elected. We loved him for his courage and strength in resisting the forces in this city that are now turning it back into a Leftist sewer.

No, he's being smart. Let the other's punch themselves out for a while and he'll get in when the time is right. It's the smart move. Right now he is not really being scrutinized. Let McCain and Romney go up in flames.

Not me, but when they disagree with the Republican Party platform.

Have you ever read it?

Dear RichardW,

I can see him holding off announcing his candidacy, if that's what he's doing (although I don't agree with the strategy - all the back and forth is just preliminaries until the primaries actually start - and he'll have to announce long before that - no one's going to coronate the RINO).

However, that really has nothing to do with whether he marks the box for party as "Republican" when he fills out required FEC forms.

He seems to admit as much in that his campaign is now saying that they're going to (or already have) refile, marking the box Republican.

It's a move that doesn't make any sense, and it appears that at least some elements of his campaign now recognize that.

All this speculation that he will turn Democrat or independent at any moment is mostly wishful thinking.

Guess we'll see. I can tell you that his failure to check the 'R' box doesn't give me a warm fuzzy feeling toward him. Of course, I would never vote for Rudy in a primary anyway, so that doesn't matter.
