Time for Quayle for President in 2008
none | 2-3-2007 | Andrew Schmidt

Posted on 02/03/2007 9:44:46 AM PST by AuH2O

I was looking at the Republican's running for President in '08 none really get me excited other than Gov. Jim Gilmore, but not sure he has the name id nationally to win. I think for Conservatives their is only one clear choice we should urge VP Dan Quayle to run for President in '08. He is a solid conservative, hasn't changed his opinons like Gov. Romney, nor has he sold out like John McCain, as for Rudy he was a great mayor, but he is wrong on the family values issues, I am not too sure we would get Supream Court nominees like Alito, Roberts and Thomas from him. So, I think we should all write letters to VP Quayles office urging him to run in 2008.

The country needs him now to lead.

write VP Quayle at

Arizona 7001 N. Scottsdale Road Suite 2010 Scottsdale, AZ 85253 Contact: Laura Minter Tel: 480-922-5700

New York 299 Park Avenue 22nd Floor New York, NY 10171 Contact: Laura Minter Tel: 480-922-5700

In the next couple of Days i will have draftquayle.com up so we can sign a petition to encourage him to run in 2008.

Thanks

I would vote for Quayle if he ran. But he won't run. A. He cannot get the nomination. B. The Potato(e) incident would be front and center for the next 2 years.

I hear what you're saying but Dan Quayle has a huge image problem which I don't think he could overcome. People remember him as an ineffectual doofus, and as unfair and untrue as it might be, it would be very difficult to make people see beyond that.

He's been toast since "P-O-T-A-T-O-E".

But what's growing on top of the toast after 15+ years might make a great antibiotic.

After going back and reading his book "Standing Firm" years later, when I knew all of the players, I think he isn't as smart as I thought (and I originally backed him in 2000). In his book, he says that his Chief of Staff, BILL KRISTOL, intimidated James Baker with his intellectual expertise and that's why Baker wouldn't allow him into campaign meetings. (Baker said it was because Kristol leaked everything to the press.)

Now I ask you, do YOu think Kristol intimidated James Baker? HAHAHA!

I think he has some really good ideas, but he has too much difficulty speaking extemporaneously. I've heard him rolling along in an interview sounding impressive and then, SPLAT! He totally flubs an answer and it's over. Too bad.

Digging up Reagan and running his corpse would get more votes than Quayle. As others have typed, Quayle's reputation was destroyed by the hating left wing media.

Another set up too. Everybody yukked it up about misspelling the word, but nobody reported that he was reading to the kids from a flash card that had the word misspelled on it.

The Bush 9/11 crap was the same thing, he's reading to school kids, but he's supposed to jump up and run around screaming when they tell him about the attack. If Hillary had done either one it would have been either a right-wing conspiracy or a demonstration of keeping her cool in a crisis.

Look at how pathectic our party is now. Gosh, who do we really have? Hunter is the only real deal, can't get the ticket and Rudy and McCain our Bulls##t artists.

Get Newt out there and let his ideas start debate. He's got the same track record as Rudy in terms of his personal life. We can overcome this, we have 21 months.

We keep lowering the bar. By that, it will shape the future of the party.

Dan's skipping Vietnam duty through influence peddling will keep him out forevermore.

He tried to play it both ways. "I was proud to serve." "How dare you impugn the motives of officers getting in the Guard."

Sorry, Dan. Stay home.

People like you think they're humorous, but you're not. You're just carrying the Dims' water for them.

Quayle was among the best and the brightest of us and he just had to be destroyed. In case you don't know, Quayle was visiting a classroom and a teacher was giving a spelling lesson. She held up a card with the infamous (second) spelling and Quayle read it.

Quayle would make a great President. (Marilyn would be a great First Lady too.) But people like you will make sure he never gets back to Washington.

Why not?

27.7% (non-registered) in the FR poll want Gingrich to run.

Dems would have a field day with either Dan or Newt -- as the Dems would be almost certain to get the White House back.

"The Potato(e) incident would be front and center for the next 2 years."

Isn't that pathetic. That fat-ass boozer kennedy can drown a girl and get re-elected over and over; clinton can do the dirty deed with monica in the oval office; franks can have a gay brothol in his basement...but Quayle mis-spells a word and it's off to the junk heap with him...forever.

The liberals (read: socialists/communists) didn't need guns to take over America...they just needed TELEVISION.

He's a good man, but his "brand" is far too damaged for this to be a viable prospect.

Secondly, the Republicans desperately need to break with the Bush Era, to show they're still fresh and new. Quayle was the Elder Bush's VP - hardly the break required.

Regards, Ivan

It is so sad to say, because I like the man, I like his values, I like his conservatism, and I like his principals. Too bad the mainstream media politically assassinated Quayle years ago.

Probably the best candidate for the job and absolutely zero chance of being elected, much less getting the nomination.
