Like I said Newts a really, really bright guy. He taught history IIRC so he should know.
He's also bright, articulate, and dare I say it, clean enough (Thanks Sen Biden) to get the message across in a way that most people can understand.
Why he's not doing it I don't understand.

"Clean as a whistle, sharp as a tack."
Maybe somebody should hand him a copy of the old CWA. It wasn't broken or anything. In fact it was hardly used when you think about it.
Low mileage and it ran great. Why change?

I can't believe all the support for this man! He will never get my vote, ever! Morals matter, there is no way I want another president in the White House who can't keep his pecker in his pants. How many affairs and marriages has this guy had anyway? Doesn't it matter to anyone else here that he cheated on his wife when she was ill with Cancer? He takes all the credit for the wins in 1994, truth be told America was sick of all the bimbo eruptions and dem scandals. I remember how happy the media was when news of his affairs came out and how sick I felt that he could be such a freaking hypocrite. How many affairs and marriages has he had anyway? I had a hard time finding any info after a google search. This is Jim's wife BTW, feel free to flame away!
All right, woman. Quit dissin' Newt. Thought I wouldn't notice while I was at work, eh?
I wish we had another Reagan but we don't. In fact, the next Reagan will not look, sound or have the same ideas as Reagan. Whoever can apply the principles of the founders to the future and paint an optimistic picture of that future is our next Reagan.
There are more of Newt's indiscretions that we don't know about. That is unfortunate and a sign of our times. It would be a mistake to discard Newt's articulation for the sake of moralistic reprobation. The fate of the party and, more importantly, the direction of the Republic may be at stake.

Are you the same person you were 20 yeas ago, have you changed at all? Have you refined and developed you opinions based on your life experiences or do you think and react the same today as you did in 1987?
The secularist, liberal, ACLU types have discovered by destroying this ONE true concept, it will abolish the "America Idea" that we so value today. The clueless anti-American has no concept of what this value can bring into their lives.
Without acknowledging a creator who gives us "liberties," there is no America...
You don't get it do you? Read #89. The fact is always going to remain this country was founded on acknowledging the principle a CREATOR gives Freedoms and Rights, not man. This is what IS America. If you take this away and do not make this a value, a central theme in governing, you destroy the very concept which makes "America," America.
This country will NOT work without THIS idea.
But he wasn't a hypocrite as I recall. He never went after Clinton about Clinton's affairs. Infact, I don't remember hearing a peep from him about it and wondering why? If you know of something he did or said, hypocritically I would like to know.
Sounds like "Big Government" interference to me.
I'll bet you hate how our nation's founding document states clearly (and truthfully) that our rights are granted us by GOD. That is the keystone of our Republic. If you remove God from it or the fact that everyone has inalienable rights that are granted by God, then the whole thing will crumble. You can call that "legislating religion" but it is continuing the vision and tradition set by the founding fathers for the preservation of this Republic.
Would you feel uncomfortable being part of a political party whose platform calls for the return of prayer in schools, calls for more official religious involvement in government programs, calls for preserving the "sanctity" of life and opposes abortion for that reason, calls for the preservation of the words "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance, and even mentions God, one of the teachings of Jesus Christ, and the power of prayer on its first page?
I get it fine; I just don't think it should be legislated.
I bet once again you're putting words into people's mouths to suit your own agenda.
For the life of me, I cannot figure out WHY you feel compelled to do that; but keep on doing it; it just makes you more and more irrelevant, not to mention makes you look petty and ignorant. But what's new, huh?
That's one of the things about Newt that really burns me.
You mistake interpreting what you've said and stating its logical conclusion "putting words in your mouth".
And you didn't answer my question about whether you would be comfortable being in a political party with a political platform written as I described..
Thanks for posting this, Jim. A Must Read Bump!
Newt is probably the best conservative thinker/idea man in the USA right now.
I'll vote for him for President in '08. I hope we have that choice!
I see the Contract With American didn't include any mention of abortion, guns or gay marriage. Yet that's all some freepers can talk about now.
FReepmail me to get on/off the Newt '08 Ping List
IMO, Newt is the right man at the right time.
