Marwan Chamoun: "How many of us Lebanese, or even Arabs, know anything about the Talmud? Or about the book, Exposing the Talmud? Or about the book, Pawns on the Chessboard? Or about another book, The Secret World Government? Or about Exposing the Talmud? Or about Blood for the Matzah of Zion, [which deals with] the slaughter of the priest Tomaso de Camangiano, who was a Sicilian with French citizenship, in the days of Muhammad Ali Pasha, in 1840..."

"The world loves the Jews. The 'ruler' is Christianity - the Christian West. Arabs, Muslims - why don't you take advantage of something like this? A priest was slaughtered in the presence of two rabbis in the heart of Damascus, in the home of a close friend of this priest, Daud Al-Harari, the head of the Jewish community of Damascus. After he was slaughtered, his blood was collected, and the two rabbis took it. Why? So they could worship their god, because by drinking human blood, they can get closer to God. Where are our diplomats and politicians? Why don't we profit from these historical matters, which are presented to us on a simple, eternal, golden platter?

"As I've said, these books can be found on the streets of Beirut. There are approximately 20 to 30 such books. I must have bought about 2,000 copies since they were published, maybe more. I'd like to say 20,000 copies, but I don't know. When somebody gets married, instead of chocolates, I give him one of these books. Whoever reads this for the first time feels a chill of horror and disbelief. He cannot believe it."

As sad as this article is, he's a legitimate academic, and it's being heard in Lebanon, taken by many as fact, and worth reading to understand what's happening there.

That's what's so scary. It's very 1930s Germany where the majority of the population would swallow whatever big lie Hitler & Co. would feed them because it was so much easier to just go along. You could get hurt if you didn't, y'know?

It's obscene and beyond ridiculous to ever accept the old blood libel, but millions of unthinking, eternally malleable Arab masses are probably inclined to believe it. It's such a simple seductive belief: those clever Jews are to blame for everything wrong. Once this is absorbed, then there is a visible enemy that is much easier to hate than hating yourself and your culture for all your own failures.

For other readers here, Jews don't eat blood. Jews are forbidden to eat blood. Human blood is even more forbidden than animal blood. People of other religions eat blood literally and figuratively. A few of them project accusations of the same against Judaism.

Sometimes I wonder whether these pronouncements from Militant Muslim clerics aren't some form of obscure, elaborate joke that I'm somehow too thick to "get". Something like Monty Python would have been if English had been your second language back in the 1970's and if you didn't understand British politics. An "in" joke where I'm obviously out...

"Tomaso de Camangiano" sounds like something this dude just read off an Italian restaurant menu: whatever it is, it sounds delicious! Just the thing to wash down with a nice, inexpensive Chianti. Garlic matzos on the side...

I half-expect to see these clerics and their followers snickering at us, like we have been Prize Fools and have stumbled into their joke exactly as planned.

And then I see their eyes, and that tells it all: they actually *believe* this stuff, in *earnest*. The joke is on them, surely -- but they are taking it as smoking-red-hot-gospel.

So now the Homicide Bombers and the 72 Virgins suddenly make sense. What most of us would view as a sick joke, they actually genuinely *believe* with all their heart, soul and mind. They blow themselves and others to smithereens, and they actually *believe* that 72 virgins will minister to them in Paradise! Hah!

(exactly where they would find 72 eligible virgins in the middle east remains an open question...)

And I bet they believe that all these "virgins" look like Paris Hilton under the burka -- no facial hair! The poor, sick, sorry, besotted and benighted silly fools!

(I got a bridge I can sell them -- real cheap! It's used, naturally, so I'll give 'em a discount! Honest Injun.)

It's a collective moronic state-of-mind. These lads are certifiable! Somebody needs to call out the guys with the large butterfly nets and the inconvenient long-sleeve shirts that cross over in front and fasten behind.

It would be risible indeed were it not for a fact that this particular joke is so deadly.

One thing I'd like to see is the President take this head on and start speaking out about it in very public and international places.

I've been thinking that it might be part hatred (very old jealousy of Judaism that even Mohammed wrote about) and part ruse. It's possible that Iran and her friends might be sedating western culture countries into complacency with the concentration of propaganda focused on messages of violence against Israel. With such diversion for now, they might go directly for violence against western culture nations instead of launching on Israel first. Israel is very small and is building an excellent anti-ballistic missile defense. Other western culture countries have no anti-ballistic missile defense but have offensive missiles enough to cause heavy Islamist casualties and to incite most otherwise non-violent Islamists to fight. I think that's why Ahmadinejad said that he would be fine with heavy casualties in his own country, were another nation to fire on Iran. It would incite most of the Islamics in other nations who are averted against war for now to join the Jihad out of hysteria.
