Romney is far from a Ronald Reagan.
To: RightSideRedux
Oh, stop it.
Romney is a Rino who couldn't carry RR's jock strap for cryin' out loud.
To compare the two is WAAAY over the top.

Comparing Romney to Reagan is like comparing Clinton to Lincoln.

We don't know that for sure. And it will never be proven unless that person serves 8 years in the oval office.

Romney's combination of wit, energy, and charisma is closer to Reagan's than any other presidential candidate.
As far as policy, it seems Reagan has been made, by most here, into a mythological Greek god, who never once compromised his red-meat conservative beliefs, never once made a mistake, nor held anything but an ultra-conservative view. The real Reagan wouldn't even be able to live up to the myth that's been made of him. The real Reagan would be called a RINO for compromising on taxes, immigration, social programs, etc.

Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC) is a great conservative in the U.S. Senate. Sen. DeMint and Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK) are heroes to fiscal conservatives for their strong stand on reducing the federal budget and other core conservative principles. I'm delighted that Sen. DeMint is advising and endorsing Mitt Romney.

We're unlikely to get another Ronald Reagan in our lifetime. It's time to face facts. You are not going to win with a Bush clone or one-issue-wonder nobodies. It's still going to be either McCain, Rudy, or Mitt and people are just going to have to live with it. Temper tantrums don't get anybody elected.

I started looking at all the candidates in the last couple of weeks. So far, Newt and Mitt look the best to me and I may have a tough time choosing between the two when the time comes.
I do believe Romney does have a very likable personality and a powerful presence. He seems to be a solid, moral person and highly intelligent. He also handles the media extremely well.
Newt is extremely intelligent. He's the most visionary person in politics today. All of his ideas have a ring of the American can-do spirit. Something we really need.
There are several clips of video of both out on You-Tube and Google. Check them out.

Let's compare.....romney is good looking and smooth, rudy has proven leadership and a sexy wife (albeit his 3rd). hunter will build the fence, and mCain is a former POW.
On the other side hillary will put bill back in the White House, obama is sexy, biden is in it to be the comic relief.
Oh, the decisions. /sarcasm

Mitt Romney is Wink Martindale compared to Ronald Reagan.
To: Swordfished
The real Reagan would be called a RINO for compromising on taxes, immigration, social programs, etc. The real Reagan was called a RINO - frequently, and by the same type of people who say it on FR - because he didn't issue an executive order banning abortion.
On the thread topic, De Mint is probably right on about Romney - but as a caution I remember George Shultz saying the same thing about George W. Bush in 2000.

The MSM despise Newt and would turn him into a cartoon character during a campaign. He's smart and gifted in many ways but I think he would lose BIG TIME to The Beast.
Right now I'm with Romney...to me has it all... mostly.
