The warrant was issued as a result of a false afidavit...a fabrication of the police officers involved.
Outstanding! Doesn't the NRA give out medals for such marksmanship? And at such an age!
Having listened to Atlanta News for the last 5 months the dilemma arises as to which is worse, Atlanta or New Orleans??
Oh, in that case, they deserve to fry.
A homeowner's presumption is that a violent intrusion is a case of criminal intent. That the intruders are armed says an intent to inflict great bodily harm or worse.
Whether the violent, armed men rushing in are cops or gang bangers, requires an instant judgement. Professionals may be trained to make such instant judgements correctly, usually. Ordinary citizens are not.
Particularly cops with face masks, though the info is not clear in this case.
Cops who crash in doors thus, should be doing so at their own risk. An ordinary person can not be expected to instantly distinguish guns and blinding tactical lights of cops from those of thugs.
Further complicating things is that immigrants here from some countries come from a background where the thugs and cops are very hard to tell apart.
An old lady can hardly be expected to figure it out.
Yes I have just been informed of such, and I now lament that she didn't use a larger gun.
"no-knock" warrant ping
It wasn't the wrong house. It was just the wrong door. Other news items (not this one) reported that the police LATER found drugs in the locked (padlocked) basement of the house. Apparently "junior" HAD been selling or partaking from the address, but grandma was not involved or aware.
There has been a lot of NAACP cries for 'justice' on this one. One guy even flew up to DC to get the Feds involved. So now these poor cops are gonna get Nifonged.
Home invasion robberies where there perps pose as police are not unheard of, paticularly where I live in Southern California. If someone kicks my door in the middle of the night I am going for my gun. Period. Warrants should be served during daylight hours, with next to zero exceptions.
YES. I despise copes who murder. I despise the over use of SWAT teams and the kicking in of doors. There should be very little no knock raids. This woman was innocent.
Too bad they can't indict the judge who issued the "no knock" warrant, the officers who requested it and the informant who supplied the information to get the warrant. I don't have much sympathy for the officers in this case but they are only part of the problem.
Not to mention, she was doomed the moment the cops spotted the gun, fired or not. So much for defending your life against the unknown, you will be gunned down for even appearing to do so.
No, this "upstanding" member of the justice system need to be introduced to the Second Amendment because he apparently has no knowledge of it...
What's fishy is that these officers showed up at the address of a 92 year-old woman. She's DEAD because they were at an address of a law-abiding citizen when they shouldn't have been. People should be able to live in and defend their homes and not be worried about confused law enforcement.
Last yeat (2006), Fairfax, VA, a SWAT Team executing a warrant to arrest a dentist for illegal gambling shot and killed him. The Lt of Detectives said his gun accidently disharged and stuck the dentist in the chest. The DA said it was normal to use SWAT officers to executte arrest warrants and no charges were filed. The dentist was unarmed and was leaving his house at night to go to his car.
I have not seen any information if his family is getting any financial settlement, but they should have been able to find some sleasebag to file a case and at least cost Fairfax County some costs for defending the case.
"There are alot of people in this country that would shoot you if you knocked down their door to get in,,as far as mine,,knock first"
Hence the problem with no-knocks. I'll be asking questions after the smoke has cleared.
Sounds like junior was taking advantage of Grandma,,,and she was scared..Sad state this country is in,,in this case junior should be charged with murder...? you reckon.
About time. Been waiting to see how this would pan out since day one.
Link on that? I hadn't heard that one.
