There is no such thing as the "Religious Left." The proper adjective there is either "Amoral" or "Godless."

"As a constituency, the Christian left isn't taken all that seriously," Penalver said.

Ya think? These idiots can not be for real. Every two years they desperately try to sell the lies that they are

1- moral/religous
2- trustworthy on national defense

The "religious left" is every bit as oxymoronic as "muslim family values." Muslims are not taken all that seriously when they whine about the debauchery of the West either.

The only "religion" they recognize is the marxist dialectic, which has numerous denominations: the Church of the Environment; the Holy Order of Welfare; Our Sistuhs of Perpetual Ugly; Rev'n Jackson's Groovy Santuary of the Shakedown; The Way, The Proof, and the Milluh Lite.

And there's always the secular humanism that elevates man to the status of god.

Kind of like how the Republicans don't take the Christians seriously because there isn't anywhere else to go.

Exactly. IMO that's one of the big reasons why the Republicans lost control of congress. You can only ignore us so long before we decide to stay home on election day.

IMO, the only difference between Democrats and Republicans is how quickly the frog gets boiled.

Repubs use a slow-cooker while the Demos like the lobster method.

Everything is now ok: McEwan apologized, saying she didn't intend "to disparage individual's faiths..." and (the standard qualification to apologies these days) she is sorry "her words were taken in the wrong way."

LOL. Yeah, "Christofacists" and Catholics discourage birth control not for any fundamental moral or theological reason, but rather to generate more "tithing Catholics." It is easy to misinterprate these comments, and I take her apology for what it is worth.....

(Today the NYT moved the report up to the front page.)

""Religous Left" -- isn't that an oxymoron ??"

It is if you don't count dirt-worship as a religion.

"Those are some nasty girls."

Such language! You should immediately apologize to them. Perhaps you are a "Christo-fascist" like me... ;-)

Actually, I think it covers all those decent, religious blacks who continually vote Dim, even tho the party's actions are completely anathema to their beliefs. It probably covers a lot of Dim working class Catholics who think the party is for the 'little man.'

The rest of them are satan worshippers. : )

I've wondered what the opposite of libertarian was, but that never occurred to me. It's something to think about.

"As a constituency, the Christian left isn't taken all that seriously," Penalver said.

What, did you actually expect the democrats to listen to anything you had to say beyond what buzzwords to include in their speeches and press releases to scam us ignorant hayseeds into believing that democrats actually care about religious people?

The only reason you're even allowed at the table, Mr. Penalver, is to provide political cover. If the Dims want your input or your opinion on anything above and beyond that, they'll give you your script. And if you have a problem with that, there's plenty more like you who will be perfectly happy to take your place for the left's thirty pieces of silver.

Playing to the cheap seats with anti-Catholic bigotry has no place in the Democratic Party."

And if Mitt Romney gains support, anti-Mormon bigotry will have a nice place in the party, too.

The left seeks the elimination of all religion. People who were involved with left wing groups have told me they have a particular hatred for religion.

Leftists want all religion eliminated except theirs: socialism and the coercive pursuit of "justice," which is really just envy writ large.
