That is unreal! I would have to agree with you that global warming is the cause. I also heard that last month was the coldest January in 100 years for NW Indiana and the Chicago area. What else could it be besides global warming?

I'm thinking the Weather Channel bimbo who wants meterologist that debate/question global warming to have credentials pulled should do the weather, OUTSIDE, in a STRING BIKINI, in Oswego County.

Well, okay, I wouldn't hit it, but it'd sure be fun to watch.

Always interesting when they they say it's the coldest (or hottest) in 100 yrs or more.
So what was the cause of the cold (or warmth) 100 yrs ago?

They used to build houses up there with very steep roofs and ice catchers so the residents wouldn't get beaned by ice sliding off the roof but the roof would hold tremendous weights of snow. They also put doors opening on the second storey so they could get out when the snow had buried the ground level. While 7 feet of snow isn't all that much, by the time it drifts into the valleys it can be 20 feet deep and packed.

It is always funny to see homes with second floor doors.

Well they haven't really been keeping record that long. Canada has records going back to 1948. Cambodian has kept records for 27 years.
These are a couple of facts that I have gleaned from the news lately. The Canadian figure came from a story last year about the warmest year on record, the Cambodian statistic came from a story this week about how it is the coldest ever on record.
Without a long term record keeping log, how in the world to extrapolate these small samples 100 years in the future?
