Obama Comparing Himself To Lincoln?
http://www.opinionjournal.com/columnists/pnoonan/?id=110006884 ^

Posted on 02/10/2007 5:11:14 AM PST by chessplayer

"This week comes the previously careful Sen. Barack Obama, flapping his wings in Time magazine and explaining that he's a lot like Abraham Lincoln, only sort of better. "In Lincoln's rise from poverty, his ultimate mastery of language and law, his capacity to overcome personal loss and remain determined in the face of repeated defeat--in all this he reminded me not just of my own struggles."

A couple days ago, a CNN commentator (I think it was Blitzer) compared Obama to Lincoln in the sense that both had only served a short time in Congress before running for President. Remember what happened to Dan Quayle (when questioned about his relative inexperience to be VP) when he said that JFK was also relatively inexperienced when he ran for President.? The donks and the media tore Quayle apart for it.

Oh this is rich...

Obama shows a complete lack of sense of history by comparing himself to Lincoln.

What an idiot. (And his ears are too big!)

Lincoln knew when war was necessary, Obama obviously does not. If there was an Obama like minded President in 1860 the Union would have been disolved and the two resulting nations would have warred for many decades.

The next American President above all else should be willing to take premptive military action against Americas' enemies. Is this Obama?

The Alternative would be "possible" military action after more American casualties.

President Obama = A destroyed New York City.

Lincoln was a Black Muslim??

Who knew???

I wonder why they left out THAT little tidbit from the history books.

Maybe Obama will show up at his press conference wearing a stovepipe hat.

The donks and the media tore Quayle apart for it.

Remember also that when people pointed out that Bush's tax cuts had good historical precedence -- that JFK had had good success with very similar tax cuts. The Kennedy family stepped forward (seething with rage) and said "How DARE you use the sacred JFK to promote your nefarious Republican schemes --!"

Obama says wars can be dumb. If he had been president in 1861 he probaby would have said,

"It's dumb to get involved in a civil war."
"If the South wants Fort Sumter, let them keep it."

My brother is a huge Obama fan. I try not to participate in the conversations. Here's one:

B: Obama is going to be the next president.
CCG: But what's he ever done?
B: Have you heard him speak? He's brilliant!
CCG: But he hasn't done anything.
B: He's in the Senate -- they never do anything. But he's brilliant!
CCG: What are some of his brilliant ideas?
B: Have you heard him speak? He's brilliant!
CCG: So he speaks well. I don't think that;s enough.
B: Hmmmmmfff! It's more than Bush has! He can't talk at all! Obama is brilliant!

I turned them off too, just can't stand all the Anna Nicole Smith coverage and the Barrack Hussein Obama love fest. FNC weekends is all liberal all day. They are losing viewers (as evidenced right here) but don't really seem to care. I can't stand Greg Kelly, he is a liberal weenie. I had not heard ONE word about the outrageous reporting in the WAPO yesterday and the "correction" issued on it. They should be talking about the absolute evidence that the WAPO is clearly in bed with the DNC. They haven't mentioned Rusert's testimony and the revelation he filed a false affidavit -- none of that is covered. Its just entertain fluff.

Fortunately for Obama the chances of someone saying, "I knew Abe Lincoln. Abe Lincoln was a friend of mine. Senator, you're no Abe Lincoln" are pretty slim.

Obama is much closer to Mary Lincoln than Abe. (at least in her later years)

Also much closer to Lincoln Chafee on a bad hair day.

The MSM has painted him as the product of some sci-fi experiment that cloned Abe, JFK, Washington, and Socrates... with Oprah as the birth mom.

CNN is almost orgasmic in anticipation now.

Oh. So that's what Lincoln's for. Actually Lincoln's life is a lot like Mr. Obama's. Lincoln came from a lean-to in the backwoods. His mother died when he was 9. The Lincolns had no money, no standing. Lincoln educated himself, reading law on his own, working as a field hand, a store clerk and a raft hand on the Mississippi. He also split some rails. He entered politics, knew more defeat than victory, and went on to lead the nation through its greatest trauma, the Civil War, and past its greatest sin, slavery.

Barack Obama, the son of two University of Hawaii students, went to Columbia and Harvard Law after attending a private academy that taught the children of the Hawaiian royal family. He made his name in politics as an aggressive Chicago vote hustler in Bill Clinton's first campaign for the presidency.

You see the similarities. We need a Baraka/Lincoln penny of coinsidences! Funny how whenever these dumbass liberals run, they are always comparing themselves to Republicans like Reagan or Lincoln!

The WAPO ran a front page article on the IGs report on Intelligence; rather than quote the report, the WAPO "accidently" reported quotes they directly received from Senator Karl Levin, and claimed they were quotes in the IG's report. You can read more about it at Aces (see link below). Here are just two sentences from that site:

"Now you didn't think I was going to stay out of this WaPo "whoopsie" story did ya?"

snip (article and correction posted)

"But what do you know, that report turned out to be the talking points of a Democrat Senator name Carl Levin."

The whole event verifies that the WAPO does not report facts, they receive and print, without editorial review, the talking points they get from the Democrats.

This was my last morning watching Fox and Friends Weekend. This Obama Orgasmic thing is making me ill. Kelly is obviously a big lib and I am thinking Kelly Wright is too. I believe everyone has homed in on the Anna Nicole thing because it is a big change from hearing RAT election garbage and the media's obvious bias for Democrat party. (I just had to puy it that way) I don't think we will hear anything about the WAPO or Russerts testimony in TV reports, if you want to call what the MSMs do "reporting". It is going to be a hard climb for any Conservative because he will get no coverage or fair time, not even on Fox. Actually, I think it is way too early for all this 2008 garbage. I am sick of elections and RATs already.

Also from the article...

Mr. Obama said he keeps a photographic portrait of Lincoln on the wall of his office, and that "it asks me questions."

So sHillary talks with Eleanor and Lincoln ask Obama questions? Maybe we should call the guys in the white lab coats to take them away to little rubber rooms where they can their own Yertle the Turtles.

The point of the article is that politicians today seem to lack all humility and are consumed with self-importance to the point where it ceases to be a quiet vanity, but one they must spew to others about.

My theory is that anyone desiring high public office enough to seek it is too ambitious to serve and unfit for the very office sought. It's like a Peter Principle for the political world.

The solution? Let's bring back the smoke filled room, where candidates are drafted by the seniors of their party based on character, qualification, and ability. It wasn't perfect, but it worked better than today's circus that any normal, centered human being would avoid at all costs.
