I agree - allowing rape has no place in prisons. I think it depends on the prison, some places rely more heavily on inmate self-policing to keep order than others, and I suspect those are the places where this sort of thing is most common. Still, it should not happen. And prisoners who engage in sexual assault of other prisoners should be publicly castrated in the prison yard....
Probably the absolutely worst thing about being sent to prison is the subhumans you're forced to live with. Just comopare that to living with two or three friendly dogs and a boa constrictor. Then ask yourself if the fellow inmates are "animals" or something far worse.
?Were'd you get that idea, missy?
Oops, retract previous post...
"Nobody ends up in Federal prison for a 3rd time DUI."
Maybe not Federal prison, but certainly State prison. I would personally prefer a Federal prison over a State prison.
Good grief. Live in a cave?
If you click the link at the top of this thread and read it states: For several reasons, the primary focus of this report is on sexual abuse in prisons, rather than jails.
The HRW that is the topic of the thread does not focus on jails. It appears the term I used applies.
Teenage keyboard jockeys spouting false bravado and a few well-intentioned 75-year-old ex-Marines who don't understand how the legal system has changed since their day.
And some DU trolls, of course, throwing gasoline on the fire. ;)
Tey saying that to the three innocent defendants in the Duke Rape Case.
AMENDMENT XIII
Passed by Congress January 31, 1865. Ratified December 6, 1865.
Note: A portion of Article IV, section 2, of the Constitution was superseded by the 13th amendment.
Section 1.
Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.
Section 2.
Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.
That was a very boneheaded statement. The purpose of prison is not to provide fresh meat for rapists. It is a place to be punished. Secondly the United States has the highest imprisonment rates in the industrialized world. There are a lot of innocent people in prison too.
Lets face it if you make a prison a place where people learn and are forced to behave like animals then don't be suprised if they come out worse than when they went in.
I agree, but like the "War on Drugs" it's a big business now, and such a reform could easily be defeated politically with the simple tactic of crying, "Did you see all the crimials my opponent wants to let out of prison???"
Intelligence is a premium commodity. It's not distributed in equal shares.
The Man will PAY. Nuff said.
Uh... no. Premeditated murder is killing someone with malice aforethought. Intoxicated driving resulting in a death is more like very serious manslaughter.
The punishment is suppossed to be jail time, not rape.
Well that won't be happening in the future. There is NO SMOKING in prison.
What prisons did you go to? Min, max both?
Tough talk. But the solution takes more than talk.
Why did the man murder your aunt? Perhaps he had been sent to prison for theft of a DUI and was subjected to 5 years of non-stop rape and came out wanting to kill.
