You consider spending, taxes, crime, affirmative action, school choice, and winning the WOT only 20% of the issues?

Anyhow, I don't oppose Hunter because he's anti-free trade, I oppose him because he can't win, is a career politician, and wouldn't have the political capital to make real progress in the WOT even if he did win.

The anti-free trade thing is just to prove to the 'pure' conservatives that there is no such thing.

I like what I read. He is someone who understands that America is a great country, and we are only in twilight years if we cave to political correctness or are bullied by the likes of China and others who hate our freedoms. I am in Hunter's corner.

but face facts, he is not a free trade guy.

CATO actually rates Hunter as "pro fair trade", via his voting record. Now I know that voting records are not as important as speeches, but this has got to be worth something.

I agree when a democrat says that, it's about class warfare.

But when a conservative says it, it means they see a problem that needs fixing.

Democrats focus on problems, Republicans focus on solutions.

BTW, I am for free trade and don't necessarily agree with Hunter on this. Just telling you what he said.

He still is the best one running so far.

'fair' trade is the same thing as protectionism.

The relevant statistic is 24% for free trade. That's 76% not for free trade.

He mentioned Hunter as an after thought that maybe a dark horse candidate could come from nowhere such as Duncan Hunter.

Did he mention anyone else? If not, he may as well have been saying "wink, wink, nudge, nudge."

The other person, in addition to Duncan Hunter, that Rush mentioned today was Newt Gingrich. I'd like to see a Hunter/Gingrich ticket - I think that would be a sure winner for us.

GO DUNCAN HUNTER!!!

This is true but I do not see one candidate that can hold a candle to Duncan Hunter and Newt Gingrich.

Do you support the entire scope of "Free Trade" 100% ?

Have to disagree with you, the only way his chances are nil is if people do not support and vote for him.

I'm supporting him and will vote for him.

Will you?

Thanks, I was driving down the highway in my very noisy truck and could only hear bits and pieces. Makes sense that he mentioned Newt, Rush likes him. So do I, he's a brilliant thinker. My hope is that he comes out in support of Duncan and helps him with strategy.

100%? I doubt I support anything 100%. But somewhere in the 90%'s? Yah.

Damn right, it will be uphill against the entrenched politicians, but it can be done.

Career Politician....

Now that is an attack.

Some Career Politicans have been very good to their districts or states...Byrd, Iakaka, Stevens, Kennedy, Reid...the list is enormous.

To their Constituents it is not a bad thing.

The important subject is not "Career" but rather Honest and Ethical.

Since you can't recognize the distinction I have put you on my special marker list.

Hunter's name recognition outside CA is about .5%.

I'm in VA and I know his name quite well!

Doing my part to help with the name recognition:

DUNCAN HUNTER - DUNCAN HUNTER - DUNCAN HUNTER - DUNCAN HUNTER - DUNCAN HUNTER -
DUNCAN HUNTER - DUNCAN HUNTER - DUNCAN HUNTER - DUNCAN HUNTER - DUNCAN HUNTER -
DUNCAN HUNTER - DUNCAN HUNTER - DUNCAN HUNTER - DUNCAN HUNTER - DUNCAN HUNTER

I love this speech. Thanks for posting.

"In 1945, a young Marine returning home from the South Pacific to San Diego wrote these words:

“I think that just to be able to live with your wife and family...to be able to take care of them every day is the greatest privilege a person can enjoy.” 61 years later another Marine returned to San Diego from a place called Fallujah and wrote: “At some point in a dangerous environment you forget about your own safety and you try to keep your men safe and place your own life in the hands of God, but your family, your wife and kids never leave your mind. Families lift our country up. They support us with fidelity, morality, faith in God, and raising the next generation of Americans.”

The first Marine was my dad, R.O. Hunter, to whom I owe all that I am or ever will be. The second was my son Duncan, here today. These letters over 60 years apart reflect the truth of America: God still loves this nation. We are still a people of character and strength and kindness."

I've seen some polls of late, even though I really hate polls, that show Duncan Hunter as a leading candidate. I hope he continues on to become the GOP candidate and the next President.
By the way, compare Obama's speech with Duncan's. Duncan is heads about Obama in wisdom and stature.
