Public school lawyers say parents have no say if public schools teach homosexuality
World Net Daily ^ | Feb. 14, 2007

Lawyers representing a Massachusetts school district named as a defendant in a parent's civil rights complaint have said teachers at Estabrook Elementary School have a "legitimate state interest" in teaching the homosexual lifestyle, and parents have no input into those decisions....

...."The state must fight 'discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation' in ways that 'do not perpetuate stereotypes,'" the lawyers for the school district argued. They also explained to the judge that, in their opinion, parents have no right to control what ideas the school presents to elementary schoolchildren, and if parents disagree with that dictate, they can take their children elsewhere.

"Once I have elected to send my child to public school, my fundamental right does not allow me to direct what my child is exposed to in the public school," said the school's lawyer....

Hopefully, President Barbour, Gingrich or another conservative will convince Congress to pass a school voucher law that will enable parents to avoid the public schools that pollute their children's minds.

I homeschooled one of my children here in NJ for a year and a half - I told the school I was withdrawing him and did it. Never heard from the state. When it was time for him to go back, I contacted the school and they ran some tests on him to confirm he was at grade level.

I had the hardest time getting him to write but we did fairly well with the rest of it.

Thanks for the info. I think I will teach her all summer and if it goes well I will take her out. She seems to really like her school but I have a problem with what these groups want to teach my child. She is the youngest of 6 and was born when I was 41 so I have had my fill of dealing with the school system. I guess I am more afraid I won't be a good teacher but my daughter in law to be is going to be a teacher and she is very interested in helping. Thanks again ....~P~

Lawyers representing a Massachusetts school district ... have said teachers at Estabrook Elementary School have a "legitimate state interest"...

That is the bottom line in a public government school. They are working for a state interest. Public school has been a nationalized socialist institution for a long time even though most people probably don't think of it that way.

This is exactly what will happen to all of healthcare if it is socialized. The government will run it and its main purpose for existing will be to serve the state interest not the patients.

I know ...I think its all gone crazy. If they socialize healthcare I think we will all be in big trouble. Shaking my head here again...I will try to teach Lela this summer if it works then to the hell with the school. Or I may look into a Lutheran school where my neighbor teaches, quite a few children go there now. However there recently was a problem with a Rev and sex abuse from years ago so I don't know if thats a good idea. ~P~

It sure seems like it and with our tax dollars too. I have an idea.....Why don't the gay parents who want their children taught all about diverse families and all the other bs just start their own schools for their own children and leave the rest of us who don't care to have this bs pushed on children alone.....It will never happen because they want to push their gay agenda on our children & they think they can & will get away with it. Parents have to get more involved in their child's school and join the PTO or PTA. I was shocked to find out that the PTA is behind that movie "Thats a Family". I guess having morals is a thing of the past and they feel anything goes. Its just disgusting IMO. ~P~

The state's lawyers make the case for home-schooling. This is actually good news that will help to accelerate the coming collapse of the publik skrool monopoly.

Most parents don't know they can home school. And many are too lazy to send their kids to good private schools. Let's face it, America's publik skrools are little more than leftist indoctrination camps. Spare your child the ghastly fate of being "edukated" there.

This statement does not make sense. If he has a fundamental right, then it would allow him to direct what his child is exposed to. If he does not have a fundamental right...then who is actually the parent here????

It's no wonder so many people abuse drugs/alcohol or need antidepressants. These people make me want to bang my head against the wall. No one can this dumb.

The state is in charge of your child, not you. Its values take precedence over yours. The state is the New Family.

This is a disgrace. The irony is that a lot of this arose after No Child Left Behind even though it has noting to do with it. Instead, having lost a lot of control over curriculum and classroom teaching methods on basic subjects to the federal gov't, local scool boards are apparently pulling these stunts to assert their "control" where it does not belong. Any tolerance for diversity is best taught at home and not in a classroom full of 25 pre-teen or teen kids. See, e.g., Fast Times at Ridgmont High. The state and local school boads should go home now and apologize to those they serve.

Home school parents should search the internet for help and
look for home school associations in their area.
Many cities have such associations which get kids together for social activities, even sports.

Also, don't overlook Montessori training and schools.
They can be much less expensive then traditional private schools, and kids can start as young as 3 years old.

My daughter started in Montessori, then to private until
10th grade, then self educated herself from age 15.

I'm sorry, were you talking to me? I don't think you were talking to me, because i am in charge of my kids.
And i did not relinquish my children to the Nanny State Skool.

Yes, they not only want us to accept every vile form of perversion known, they want to force our children to deal with it and stick us with the mental/monetary cost when it all goes wrong.

Please pardon the absent "be". It's been a long night and I'm a product of public school.

Another triumph of the growing muddle class.

Revoke the 19th amendment and this will fix itself within two generations paternalism will reassert its natural role.
